possibilities are rihanna who reached the charts on the usa with take a bow, it doesn't deserve the title but well.. other possibilities are mariah carey, janet, madonna but I think the return of the PCD will be successfull. maroon 5 is going to do well with if i never see your face again and britney will release a very good single which is radar. leona lewis is stil growing everywhere and her new singles are good options. then, coldplay is not going to be a hit, i know, but they're good and their new album will be a huge hit. i've heard recently lady gaga's single Just Dance, i think it's good but I don't imagine it being the hit of the summer.

I don't know about '04 either (LOL) but he was spot on in saying "Hips Don't Lie" for '06. "SexyBack" wasn't a summer hit. I remember hearing "Hips Don't Lie" in my cabin at camp all the time that year.

Also "We Belong Together" wasn't a summer song either. It was either "Me & U" or "Promiscuous."

2004 was Usher's year, right? And also for 2006, "Promiscuous" was huge, and that was released at the beginning of summer.

As for this year, I'm thinking Lil' Wayne, either with "Lollipop" or another track (maybe he'll release his song with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado) will be the summer song for 2008. The way I look at it, all of the songs mentioned on this list (with the exception of SexyBack), was already released by the beginning of June. And "Lollipop" is already doing well and is just now heating up at Top 40 radio.

I think this is the year of Lil' Wayne.
