Honestly I havent been keeping up with this, even though I can literally spit into Venezuela from my house lol.
I have a couple questions (it would be nice if the Venezuelans would answer, not really too trusting of the mainstream media with situations like this)
How did this come about?
Why do yall hate Maduro so much? he was literally hand picked by Chavez, and the country has never turnt up on him THIS bad. Thought he would be a solid fit.

I'm gonna keep it short because I'm so tired of rehashing and, most importantly, living this.
This is not something that sprung forth out of nowhere, as long as Chavez has been in power, there has been a growing opposition to the radical socialist socioeconomic policies of this government.
Chavez had many faults but he had one important factor that kept the opposition at bay, and that was a magnetic personality, one that true cult leaders have, and managed to hold a tight grip on the oppressed society who firmly believed on his promises for change, growth, national pride and basically fed whatever crumbs this tarnished, selfdestructive government gave them while they embezzled and stole money and properties, all the while forging a steel solid symbiotic relationship with the Castrocomunist dictatorship in Cuba and amassing in most latin countries allies and helping them reach in power.
Once Chavez died this ignorant came to power, and I say that in the most definitive meaning of the word, Maduro is a simpleton at most, lacking any sort of higher or even middle education, his only claim to fame being a faithful lackey capable of following basic instructions the true puppeteers of the government gave him. He didn't win, it's a well-known secret that the elections were rigged and a sublevation was at hand at the moment, but it was quieted down.
This year however, crime rates are through the roof, you can't find food in the shelves, basic supplies like flour, sugar, coffee, milk, diapers, rice, butter, etc. are nowhere to be found, and when the government does provide, you have to stand in line two to six hours under the scorching heat to get a fixed ammount of items, enough to feed your family a weeks worth.
Medicines? Nope, nothing, my aunt has Leukemia and she had to stopped chemo because there is none, and that's starting on top, hospitals don't even have saline solutions or gloves.
You want to travel? Well, this year you only have a fixed ammount of foreign currency available, and you have to pay it for a price that changed every week, so of course our currency is absolutely worthless and importing/exporting goods is basically a fools errand.
Plus, there are no plane tickets so even if you managed to buy some foreign currency in the black market (for a 1000$ you'd have to pay around 80 Million BsF, your basic income is around 2450 Millions BsF to get the idea) there are no tickets so you'd have to buy them at least a year in advance.
Now we're being murdered in our street if we complain by the national guards, literally shot in the face and left to bleed in the sidewalk.
Our media is gagged and bound, we have access to only strict state controled media, and whomever dares speak against the government, or even show both sides of reality in our country immediately gets shut down and threatened out of the country. I'm pretty sure they'll be taking the internet soon as it remains our only way of witnessing the gruesome reality of our country.
The country with the richest oil and gas reservoirs in the world. We should be living in an American Dubai, yet I'd compare our situation more with a Somalia or a Cuba.

My take on the subject, other people might differ:
Most of our current situation is Chavez's fault, but he was such a strong leader that he somehow held the country together, I mean he was slowly destroying it but it wasn't catastrophic, it was like drowning underwater instead of getting shot to the head. So many things relied on his leadership, that's why he didn't wanna die, and after he went to Cuba for the last time it was as if some economic A-bomb was dropped in Venezuela, fueled by the disproportionate amount of money printing he did to win the 2012 election. All of the inconsistencies and corruption of his system surfaced as never before after he got terminally ill and word got out he wasn't going to make it. The Regime was too dependant on his authority, and he made sure it was this way so he would always be needed, he probably thought he'd die at like 80 years old.
More recently the National Guard has been ruthless and in some cases murderous towards the protests so my hatred for Maduro is rapidly increasing. Even then, truth is Maduro is just some ignorant, dumb **** that got lucky, most of us know he isn't the root of the problem, if anything he's marginally better than Diosdado Cabello at least. What we need to rebuild the economy/country is the end of Chavismo, not just the end of Maduro.
TL;DR: after the caudillo died everything turned even more messy than before.
I'm gonna keep it short because I'm so tired of rehashing and, most importantly, living this.
Sorry. Especially about your aunt.

damn I really didnt know it was that bad. I always imagined that since Chavez kicked all the foreign oil companies out that it would be sweet out there.
I have been noticing a lot of Venezuelans at the Embassy though.

Tysm sistren, your and demi's support means so much to us

Su-Barbie-A or anyone from Táchira, what would you say is the reason why the opposition is so big in Táchira? I'm not talking about the past 2-3 weeks, what has been different over there? Why 2/3 of the population there is against the government? I'm trying to understand why we can't replicate that in other regions.
