nnn at you guys complaining about 5 minutes between classes. I was never late during high school and I had that same time period to get to class.
Probably the stupidest rule was some of the dress-code for girls. I never saw anyone wear scantily clad clothes but some of my classy friends got dress-coded for wearing shirts that revealed their skin from the back. The clothes weren't even distracting
Junior High had dumber rules though. You couldn't even listen to iPods outside of class which is ridiculous because iPods aren't going to distract you at brunch or lunch
Signup sheets for bathrooms is absolutely ridiculous, who the hell does that? totally unnecessary. My school has cameras covering the hallways so they could just look at the footage if someone wrote a bomb threat.
Depends on where you go I guess. I had a bomb threat at least once a year. Having cameras in bathrooms is illegal, so sign-up sheets were the only way to see what students entered bathrooms. It's ridiculous, but how is writing your name on piece of paper for the sake of safety any burden on you? :P
Having to fill out a form to enter the bathroom is perfectly fine? And not being able to talk in the hallway?
Perhaps the hall way thing is a bit of a stretch but the signing out to go to the bathroom is fine. My school did it and its nothing really to complain about. A written record on when people have used the bathroom is for multiple things like seeing how long you been out etc
It's nice in principle.. but it doesn't work. If they found something at the end of they day, it'd be narrowed down to hundreds of kids.. pointless basically. My school had 3000+ kids and not that many bathrooms, so you'd have to wait 10 minutes in a line to use the bathroom which wasted class time. That's not perfectly fine
It was a private school here in Puerto Rico. And the principal, oddly, was a WOMAN. And the rule book was created by her because she's founded the school some decades ago! I think it was completely stupid. The girl was allowed in school after the mess we made about it, but the rule still stands and it's ridiculous as hell!
I don't get when women oppress other girls/women by making them be proper & be held to a standard of what the "average girl" looks like. I never agreed with that about private schools. I also don't think they should be allowed to punish you for not looking a certain way.
The only argument I ever hear in favor of dress uniform is that it will decrease bullying, but in my public school no one ever made of another person for what type of clothing they wore. They made fun of other things.
I know. But I guess that's what happens when you go for Private School. They make their own rules. I think most of them are stupid because they prevent a student to develop his/her own personality and they don't let them express themselves.
And yeah, now that I think about it, my principal sounds kinda crazy lol I guess Puerto Rico is not a Liberal nation and I'm used to this behavior, but it's completely wrong and stupid.

This one is more of a district thing, but apparently you were forced to take Pre-AP art in 8th grade year long OR art for one semester in 9th grade

Well I went to a private catholic so I had uniforms. Ive gotten in trouble for not having my top button buttoned or my shirt tucked in. This flop old nun who died stopped me in the hallway and made me late just so she could see that I got my shirt tucked in
We also had a strictly enforced no cell phone or electronics rule. I got my phone taken away for 2 days and my dad had to come with me to get it
Also boys couldnt have their hair past their shoulders, or any piercings at all.

Completely agree, and the "decrease bullying" excuse is kinda stupid and pointless. People still bully, and if they don't find a defect in you, they will make one up so they can make fun of you. They should be giving bullying awareness orientations and come up with activities that will bring the students together, instead of limiting the students' personalities by telling them "you can't wear that because you will be bullied".
No unnatural hair colors
No mohawks above 3 inches
4 minute passing periods
No phones at all except during the 5 minute passing period after lunch
If your skirt is even 1 millimeter above fingertip length, you will get dress coded
Only around 3 wristbands are allowed at a time because they think we might be hiding cuts
No hair bands around your wrist since they could be a 'weapon'
They blocked Instagram from their WiFi

High schoolers are mean and 14-17 is a nasty age. No one is really that happy at that age so they take it out on other people regardless of the rules presented in front of them that try to prevent it.
I never bullied anyone because bullying is hideous, but I did have a terrible attitude. I'm 18 now & started college, & I'm such a happier person now.
