i'm watching Romeo + Juliet (the new one), and i'm literally cringing at how misunderstood the story is by people who don't understand shakespeare. and it makes me think of the metaphors in Love Story and i cringe even more. i know lord was young when she wrote it, but holy cr*p she should have made a better comparison than romeo and juliet if she wants to sell the idea of an actual couple in love :/

You apparently can't even understand a 4 minute pop song so I severely doubt your interpretations of Shakespeare plays are particularly educated.

Romeo & Juliet = shakespeare's tale of lust being confused as love and ultimately the irrationality of teenagers leading to their doom.

I think She just comparing the relationship cause their parents are separating them but that's it

Romeo and Juliet is not even romantic it's a tragedy

Agree, but I don't think they are close enough to collaborate. If I were her, I would rather choose Jack Antonoff who co-wrote "Brave" with Sara.




Edit: But this time I hope they deliver a finished version of STF, not unfinished product.

yeah but a) the separation caused by the family feud is the least significant comment that shakespeare is making. b) you can't make a comparison but opt to omit the most profound details of that comparison simply because it makes for a cute lyric c) yeah it's a tragedy but it's marketed by mainstream media (who don't take the time to actually study shakespeare's work) as the greatest love story of all time bla bla d) if we want to be technical, juliet's mom wanted her to get married from the beginning, she wanted juliet to snatch that d, but she wanted juliet to get it from paris, not knowing of romeo's existence. the only person (aside from the public perception of the feud) who really aired his grievances with the couple was tybalt (and then there was the death of mercutio that caused everything to go to s***)

Well, predicting who she'll collab is really hard at the moment. I just brought up Sara Bareilles here, because no one has mentionned her yet, but i thought there's a possibility of this. But then again i realized that it's highly unlikely she'll collab with a female by looking at her collab. history. She can really surprise us, idk really.

not much. a few friends of mine were extras for it but they only started filming the week after taylor got back to LA, and they filmed with Brenton (spelling?) and Jeff but not Lord or Meryl. which re-enforces her recurrent stance that her role is small. the studio she filmed at was super close to my university and it is rather small, so i really don't expect much from that. they stopped filming there towards the end of dec/beginning of jan. so unless they moved somewhere else, the film is done. it's not much, but that's all i know. also, weirdly, lord was super lowkey the entire trip. literally not one person saw her aside from the last two nights she was here when she went out for dinner. but otherwise she did zero tourist things and just worked. which sucks because cape town slays between september and april, she would have loved it

As far as i remember she was on the set for like 2 days. Nothing but promotional purposes. i hope at least the critics won't drag her for that small role.
