This is where parents make mistakes thinking that guiding and limiting what a child can do is harmful and oppressive. Children needs guidance s get him out of that fricking tutu or he's going to end up with mental disorders

Does playing with dolls and wearing a tutu make him less of a male?

When it comes to basic things like clothes, food etc, children know what they want, so raising him as a boy and girl is not necessary, let him discover things the natural way,no need to use him as an experiment.

I'm getting annoyed just reading some of these posts. Some of y'all have serious growing up to do, it's evident you're stuck in traditional gender stereotypes. That's oppression.
This child is free to dress as he wants and play with toys that he wants. They aren't raising a boy and calling him a girl. There is nothing psychologically damaging to giving a young child choice in the ways they play and experience the world. The parents are trying to break gender expectations that shouldn't exist.

But aren't they letting him discover things by offering him the best from both worlds?
Or do you seriously think that only exposing him to traditional "boy" toys and clothing, they're giving him a chance too choose and discover?

‘We’re planning on home educating Max,’ says Lisa, who was herself home-schooled. ‘However, if he does eventually choose to go to school, and wants to wear a girl’s uniform, I certainly won’t stop him.’
|
I hope he chooses to go to school because otherwise he's going to be a bit sheltered from the outside world.

They are raising him as NEITHER, which is gonna confuse him later in life. And worse of all, THEY ARE HAVING AN ARTICLE WRITTEN ABOUT HIM WITH PICTURES. This article WILL follow him to high school and he WILL be a joke

Um, ok then? I don't support gender roles but this is a bit unnecessary.

He's still a guy. He'll always be a guy. They're not raising him to be an "it".
What they are doing, however, is letting him know that he doesn't have to act/be like society expects him to, just because he was born a certain gender. Do you honestly not see the difference?
They're telling him: hey, you know, you're a guy and that's great! But that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy playing with dolls, or that you can't wear a tutu.

And I'm not trying to startle you. Just saying it's rude to go around like Oprah giving away free cars or something, like "YOU'RE A ****ING MORON! YOU'RE A ****ING MORON!". It also makes you look very... angry?

I replied to all of it, maybe not point by point, but still.

No, he is a social experiment because the parents are exploiting him in media outlets, all the while everyone in this thread keeps saying "him" when according to the parents, the child is genderless. This is going to traumatize this kid, get over yourselves. Everyone in favor of this is like "Oh, because the parents let Max play with dolls and trucks it's wrong durrr?"
No. They are raising a kid who is most likely a cis-male, as if he has no gender. This is WORSE than only getting your kid dolls or trucks depending on gender. This kid DOESN'T have a say in what he wants. The parents said that THEY decided to raise Max genderless to make him "less aggressive." Get off your Tumblr soapbox for a second and realize that Max is not making the decisions here. The parents want him like this. Max thinks it's okay because they give him dresses and trucks and the child doesn't think anything of it. I doubt this kid will graduate high school, atleast not in a public school. They're setting him up for disaster. REAL good parents would let the kid pick what toys they want, refer to him/her as their birth gender, and when they're old enough to understand, explain gender and sexuality to the child, and if they aren't straight or cis, SUPPORT them. This is NOT the answer.

LORD, that's ****ing ignorant. Goodbye.
But fyi, they aren't telling him that, you're just wanting that to be the case. Hell, the title of the thread clearly says "raise their son as a boy AND a girl"

Oh my god, did you even read the article?
Quote:
Max, who turns two later this month and lives in Walsall, is being raised according to a radical technique known as ‘gender-neutral parenting’.
It means Lisa and her husband, Martin, 34, encourage him to wear both boys’ and girls’ clothes, and to play with conventionally female – as well as male – toys.
Rather than being worried if he decides not to play football, and asks instead for someone to paint his fingernails with glittery polish, they instead see it as a form of cute self-expression.
‘If Max wants to wear a pink tutu and fairy wings, then he can wear it,’ says Lisa. ‘He’s just expressing himself. I don’t want to put him in a certain box and treat him that way. I want to teach him to be whatever he wants to be. He can pick his own clothes and, as long as they’re warm enough for the winter, I’ll get him whatever he wants.’
|
They aren't raising him to be genderless, they're raising him to be gender-neutral. There's a difference. They're not telling him that he's not a boy. They're telling him that he's a boy, but they're not limiting him because of it.

this. This hipster parenting is just . Whether they like it or not, the child is going to have to identify with one gender. They're doing much more damage than good
