Trey Songz is lyrically dated and does nothing to push R&B forward. I wouldn't go as far as saying he's 100% trash, but he's not very good for the genre -- his
image mostly sells his music. And I absolutely
despise the name "pbR&B." When this music movement fully catches on, I hope the public doesn't use that name to identify the genre, because it paints artists into a corner as "Hipster R&B." It's
very annoying and almost immediately affects how the music is perceived.
