dark horse has not at all made the impact poker face did whatsoever, girl look at the sales, charts do not tell you everything.. there was a lot tougher competition in 2009, and dark horse has yet to reach that cultural impact that poker face had. let's see if it sells 7 million, if she does i'll be happy for her, but don't be saying DH is a bigger hit than poker face when it in fact is not at all.

It's selling around 2-4k weekly. That's pretty good for a 4-5-year-old song that's already sold over 7 million copies.

So you'd rather have a couple mediocre hits than 2 gigantic ones? I don't agree. Having amassed those dual 7 million sellers is much more impressive imo.

That's unfair to cast Poker Face as that bad of a recurrent. It's very obvious and plain knowledge to know that recurrents pick up a lot when an artist has a hit on radio or elsewhere. ARTPOP just hasn't delivered a catalogue seller.

But when BTW was out, Poker Face, Paparazzi, Just Dance and Bad Romance were all charting within at least the iTunes 200 Pop Songs. Poker Face always in the lead, too.

Why exactly would having a 7x Platinum single be a big deal for Katy? It's not like she's struggle in the Digital Sales department.

Probably not, Poker Face was a lead single (As in, it came out before the album. I know Just Dance was the 1st single) that came out a month before Gagas debut album which wasn't a big hit immediately on release, Dark Horse is a 3rd single released 3 months after the already Platinum album it comes from was released. They're incomparable.

Doesn't Roar have the record for fastest time to 3x, 4x and 5x Platinum whilst still being Top 40 on iTunes after 6 months? Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Firework, I Kissed a Girl, California Gurls, Roar, Hot N Cold and E.T. were all massive in their own right especially the first two or even the first four.

To answer your question, yes I'd rather have a consistent string of 5-6M+ smashes in the US which doesn't even trail that much in comparison to just two 7M+ songs than have a pair of "gigantic" 7M-seller songs only to find myself incapable of reaching 1/4 of that amount again in the succeeding years of my career.

I mean, it's not like she just disappeared. Her other songs are very impressive, still. Those dual 7 million sellers are just the icing on top of an already great cake
