Katy isn't know for being serious. If she too quickly makes a transition, she might lose her audience. She needs to slowly transition music, and THEN transition her image. Look what happened when Lady Gaga too quickly went from Fun to Serious.

! It's what keeps her whole image accessible and friendly! I mean Katy has already referred to her own classic style as campy and fun. We all should've been expecting it to be a possible treatment for the video tbh.
