Talking about the devil's own creation, the Battle Maison, I was in a major pickle just now. Listen to this:
There is a paralysed Breloom on my side of the field with quite a bit of health against a Whiscash. Two turns of paralysis pass, meaning a Bullet Seed is unable to connect and the Wishcash kills me with a critical hit Earthquake. I try to keep it cool, because I know I have a Rotom-Wash in my party, ready to fire off a Will-o-Wisp and make the path clear for my Mega-Lucario to clean up. It turns out that the Whiscash carries both Rest and Amnesia; nullifying the burn and the accompanying attack-drop, as well as increasing its special bulk. It wouldn't be so bad if my Mega-Lucario had a physical spread, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I figured out a plan: get rid of its Chesto Berry and wear it down to a point where I KNOW he is going to rest all the damage off. That's when I safely switched in my Mega-Lucario, giving me two turns to set up. Yes, two, because the Whiscash had been able to get all the way up to plus 4 during this process. I managed to get up to plus 4 as well, leaving me with quite a dilemma: hit it with a Dark Pulse and pray for a flinch, or hit it with an Aura Sphere and hopefully live the Earthquake it will throw at me. I decided to go for the latter option and it paid off. 3 Hit Points! That is all that was left of me before I punched the Whiscash into its grave.
It turns out the Battle Maison is not always out to get you (who am I kidding?), but more importantly: IV breed every single one of your Pokémon kids, it's worth it.
I didn't expect this to turn into an essay.
