Can someone give me a short explanation of what One Piece is about?
I mean 700 chapters of what? The anime looks so unappealing
To be fair I had the same attitude you did when I first thought of One Piece. Yes it is very long and winded but after watching it all I can say that it is my favourite anime/manga of all time - it's really worth the time investment trust me!
The story is about a pirate who ate this fruit that gave him rubber qualities and he goes around the ocean searching for crew mates and most importantly to find a treasure known as 'One Piece' which once found will allow him to become pirate king. That is the storyline in a NUTSHELL. Trust me it is an incredible series and it's still continuing and is showing no signs of stopping (unlike bleach and naruto) it is totally worth getting into.
The earlier episodes of the anime are a MESS. The animations are terrible but they do improve once you cross he 300th episode - so bare with them because the storyline is actually fantastic. It's an action packed, comical yet emotional ride
Oh and did I forget to mention the characters are EPIC? These are a couple of my favourite characters

Bye. All the female characters are just support characters for male characters. Sakura never got her time to shine as the third member of the team and she has always been made behind the shadow of Sasuke and Naruto and it hasn't changed. I love Naruto but Kishimoto can do better than this. Also this Karin mess is a gigantic mess. I saw a lot of potential in her as a character when she decided to ditch Sasuke after he tried to kill her but this bitch is back to her drooling self doing anything for Sasuke. I am not here for this lack of development for female characters.
