I think she will eventually.

My ideal career path for her would be to finish out PRISM through 2015, then to take some time off to be a mom, then do another big pop era in late 2017 to finish out the decade and be the official Queen of the 2010s. Then she can just make small singer-songwriter albums, including a duet album with John, every other year for the rest of her career and do a cute little tour every once and a while.

We are in luck because Katy has stated very clearly she wants that too.

She has also proven that she has the maturity to handle her emotional sanity and protect her brand, unlike other messier pop stars.

No she doesn't, even in her most recent interview she's said again that she's just a singer-songwriter masquerading as a pop star. She won't go the Madonna route of overstaying her welcome in the pop world. As the tone of music shifts to more folk/acoustic, so will she. I think she'll be successful long into her career.

She said she's in it for the long run, I automatically assumed that meant she would be changing her image gradually as she gets older. She didn't say she wanted to be the bubblegum popstar forever.

Madonna herself did not stay bubble gum pop star. In 1989, she released "Like A Prayer". Katy said in a recent interview she wants a career like madonnas. That's what I was referring to.

Right, and I'm saying that's the opposite of what Madonna's done in the past 10 years. She keeps trying to make popular music when she really has no business doing so. Transitioning to a singer-songwriter type will help Katy have a long career. However, with that transition, she will no longer be a "big pop girl".

So, she'll be like Madonna in that she'll have a long career, but not like Madonna in that she won't be trying to pull this off when she's 55:

I hope that's the way it goes, I mean, Madonna is a legend and all, but I don't wanna Katy performing CG when she's ****ing 50 I need a flawless acoustic/folk record from Katy, that's when she's at her best Ofc after she's given us a few more pop albums
