True, if you know that it bothers some people when you don't fully believe in it (not to say some don't) then why not continue to use it against them?

I don't know, I don't believe in the "act white" or "act black" thing. We often associated urban and hoodlum behavior too often with blacks and the valley girl / surfer dude / preppy way with whites. Rihanna tends to use the urban swag, but we see Beyonce switch it up with multiple facets of behaviors. She can be a classy savvy business minded person one day and then an urban chick from around the block in the hood. I like that about her, she's a woman of many faces.

If Ke$ha becomes a size zero, do you think ATRL will stop calling her a refrigerator? Highly unlikely. Rihanna is "promiscuous." Beyoncé "bleaches." Ke$ha is "enormous." And Jennifer Lawrence is "super cool and super talented." The bottom line is that none of it is true.

AH, the cliche labels that follow someone. This goes hand in hand with the first quoted member in my post.

People care about Beyonce and they know that her influence is almost unbeatable on young girls, especially black ones. She already has blonde hair, which she has had since her DC days, but now that she is the biggest star in the world and appeals to women of every color things are different. Women that are not black IDENTIFY with Beyonce and that is scary to black media, they dont want Beyonce to fit in easily with an all white audience, they want her to be there as a black woman. So every little detail that may even begin to look suspicious is called out to remind the world and those women who identify with Beyonce that she is black and "we" are not letting her go, her success is that of a black woman.
Rihanna has never been... the focus of black media or black influence. You dont open Ebony or Essence and see anything about Rihanna but her hair, her beginnings in music have been pop, she is compared to Katy, Gaga, and Britney more than Beyonce, she is JUST now making music that majority black audiences enjoy, her music was always aimed at European crowds and therefore you almost expect her to be a "sell out".
Whitney had a phase in her career in the late 80s or early 90s I believe where she was being called a sell out and accused to trying to use her music and image to appeal solely to white audiences, Beyonce has been accused of the same thus brining the 4 era upon us. I really do think she would have made another pop album had the backlash about her selling her soul to pop and euro buyers not been so rampant. The BEYONCE album and sound is the medium, and an amazing one.

Females really do love Bey. Though, I think it is safe and fair to say Rihanna has varied female base as well. I think you nailed it when aligning the comparison to Whitney during her prime and the criticism she received from others. Great post!

is she bleaching or whitewashed? of course not but it's just a joke thrown out here since what else is there to say really? you can't call her ugly.

True! You can say stuff, but it'll become repetitive and redundant after awhile. I guess after the "lipping-gate," it's why people were quick to jump in and get their laughs.

I thought Fox was talking about off of ATRL though, I mean this has been pretty much a media scandal many times.

Actually, Nippy was somewhat right, I was referencing to the off-ATRL and on-ATRL. People just seem so invested in constantly bringing up the bleach thing.
