For me, i'd just abolish these month's because it causes nothing but a disassociation. It's the jobs of parents and teachers, especially black parents, to teach their children the history of colonialism and how slavery came into effect.
It's as if a lifetime of history and culture is crammed into a few short weeks, never to be mentioned or heard of the rest of the year. As if BHM is the rather "slower functioning" child you cringe to take outside etc.
where are you getting those?
