probably, but i think it's just the genre hopping going on right now. Pop music was always something females excelled at which gave them the edge before. now that the public is into this anti-generic (or at least what they think isn't generic) sound, men have taken the advantage to pull ahead.
it'll be interesting to see how things pan out at the end of the decade tho.
It should have smashed harder than it did.
