And she continued to make music in the 90s and 00s
I was not serious btw, but Janet is still better option than Mariah. But Mary >>>>

Called the "Queen of R & B", Blige is credited with influencing the musical marriage of hip hop and R&B. Albums "What's the 411?" and "My Life", in hindsight, invented "the sample-heavy sound that reinvigorated urban radio and became a blueprint for nineties hip-hop and R&B. Mary's "duets with the Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man and Ghostface Killah set the trend for collaborations between rappers and songbirds like Mariah Carey.

Isn't Music Box Pop/AC?
I would pick Mary for the last 20 years and Aretha overall

2 of her 3 best-selling albums were released before 1990. It does.

Yes but only control was the only full era in the 80's, RN came out in late 1989 and had most of its era was in 1990 (being the best selling album of 1990 stateside)

Mary or Aretha are easily the Queens of R&B. Mariah has always been very pop oriented. Oh and Usher? No, R. Kelly is still universally recognized as the King of R&B.

That's ridiculous.
Go outside and do a survey.
Ask a random person their opinion on Mariah and they'll likely mention her voice. Ask a random person about the other 2 and
Despite whatever you may believe Mariah's public perception is one of the best among female pop stars. Your comparison actually makes so little sense I'm not sure, aside from #1's, why you even made it.

True, but this is last 20 years too. If we really were technical, all 3 of her biggest eras wouldn't count.

You really need to brush up on your music history. She's easily one of the most innovative vocalists of all time. There's a reason why some techniques (whistling for example) are synonymous with her name.
Out With Mariah's Melisma, In With Kesha's Kick.

Exactly.
Mary had a huge impact on the whole genre, yet you still claim that Mariah with her only song you base her R&B influence at (and which not even changed something, just brought it to the #1) is the queen of R&B.
Mary invented it and brought it to #1 billboard R&B chart first, so there you go.

No she didn't.
What Rap collab did she bring to #1 on Billboard's R&B Chart?
Fantasy was #1 on the R&B and Pop charts, which is why Mariah has just as much R&B impact.

Are you really basing your argument off of charts?
Mary is the face of 90s R&B. That's indisputable. And one of the faces of the genre as a whole.
But if you want to base it off of charts then, of her 10 albums, NINE have been #1 on the R&B charts and her last was #2. She has 4 R&B #1's and 23 top 10's. Way, way more than Mariah and I say this as a stan. "Family Affair" is also a more remembered R&B sing than any "R&B" song Mariah has ever done. You can't seriously argue Mariah > Mary in the R&B category. "Fantasy" being a #1 rap collab doesn't mean anything in this argument, especially considering the original is the one that gets the most recurrent airplay. Nobody is even cosigning you on this.

I'm not basing this off sales,
Find me ONCE in this thread where I said Mary didn't have more R&B impact than Mariah. I am only not agreeing with him because he said Mariah has NO IMPACT in R&B so that's why I used Fantasy.
I am not arguing against Mary, I just said Mariah has R&B impact. You are on something else.

No to Usher. But Mimi definitely a queen in her own right but the Queen of R&B title well that goes to Mary J Blige.
But this is gonna be my face when I see people make ignorant comments about influence/impact

Then do you agree with the GP that R.Kelly and Mary are rightfully called the King and Queen of R&B, not Mariah and Usher, so we can close this mess?

They even still hold the most relevance today, of the people during their time. It's kinda the truth.

Real Love I agree w/ somewhat, but it was still more of an Urban thing. Mary was an Urban singer, coming w/ Biggie an Urban rapper. Mariah made Fantasy like a real, real mainstream thing 'cause the fact she was squeaky clean Pop (you guys said) then did a song with him and had it go #1 on R&B and Pop.
You're All I Need is a whole different level. That was more of a duet, like Bonnie & Clyde type duet.
