I get where you're coming from, but I really strongly disagree that the school can't simply let him continue his education and justify that by saying that his private career matters and his private relationship with another business or institution are simply not their business.

Every school across the country has those examples you listed. However, not every school has an 18 year old Sean Cody model doing barebacking videos that anyone can find with a quick 1 second google search.
The school is wrong for suspending him for that long and not allowing him to get his diploma. There are many other positive ways they could have handled the situation, but in turn he should have also thought about the impact of becoming a p0rn star would have in his social, school, and professional life.

Rather than suspending bullies and showing that that's not an acceptable response to something you may not like or understand, they reprimand the victim instead—reaffirming to bigoted students that their actions are justified.
