I love Dignity but I do agree that we need bigger choruses and hooks for the new album. I think OoY was my favorite because it felt big, whereas a lot of songs were rather...I don't know the word, I guess just kind of low-key throughout.

I agree with this, she did tell josh that she also recorded songs that she didn't write this time around which means she must have loved them.

That's interesting! I love when she writes her own songs but if she picks songs like OoY, I won't complain. Hilary is just about the only person I stan for that gets a pass when it comes to writing their own music. I can't truly stan for anyone who doesn't write their own stuff, it just doesn't feel genuine to me. But I've been stanning Hilary since 2001 and have loved her music since before I cared who wrote it, so it really doesn't matter as much to me. But I do love knowing when she has a hand in writing the songs.

I love Dignity, it's my favorite album by hers. And I love knowing that it is a representation of her and where she was in life at the time and that she had a hand in writing the material. I won't lie and say that I wish some of the songs had a bigger hook to them but that doesn't mean I don't want Hilary to be herself or record music she wants/loves/writes/etc.
I'm not even criticizing the album, like I said I love it, I was simply expressing something I would have liked to have seen in addition to what she had done. Surely, that's not that big of a deal.

Everything is wrong with Kelly's singles. Nearly every track she releases follows the same formula with little variation lyrically or thematically and this is coming from a former big fan.
I would rather Hilary not follow that same route but maybe she should to please the masses I guess.
