Smuggling Cocaine Underneath Your Clothes was already pretty lame. And don't get me started on Don't Bother Learning English. Welfare Whenever is her only great English song.
Loca and Rabiosa were for the Spanish speaking market and they were hits there, they were meant to rebuild her cred as a Latin artist following She Wolf which she got dragged for FILTH for. The song was a hit but her image and new sound were despised, the amount of **** shaming

Don't Bother Learning English
Whenever Wherever is horrible, if you spoke Spanish and could understand Suerte you would never go back to the English travesty.
It's so weird to me too considering she was HUGE back in her day.
And what's weird to me is most hate Rihanna but glorify Beyoncé when most of them are far more trashy than Rihanna is. Rihanna kinda pays the black community dust tho and most of them are ignorant that she's not African American but Carribean. They sell her as a sellout because she appears to have different values than Beyoncé and doesn't make "soul" music when she grew up with reggae music and hip hop unlike Bey.
Laundry Service is such a timeless album I feel like it's not given the respect it deserves among Anglo critics, in fact I've always noticed they seem confused as to how to approach Shakira at all.

Never saw you playing with the names of the songs. Shakira her power!

Are you calling black people trashy?

Anyways I don't know what black people y'all know the ones I know like both Rihanna and Beyoncé. They use Rih for the urban bops and Beyoncé for traditional R&B.
I think most of them assumed she was a dumb Britney clone when she first appeared, probably exacerbated by her then poor English skills when in reality she's a complete artist and enormously intelligent.
