I don't even know where to start. 14 years into Britneys career in 2014, her latest singles can't even reach Top 10. 14 years into Janet's career, she had one of her biggest albums and tours of all time.
Yes, Britney and Janet will both have their own legacies, but I'm leaning towards Janet since she's shown her artistic integrity with stellar vocals, amazing choreography, etc. Also leaning towards her even more after seeing some of these messy responses from the Britney stans.
Do you guys not forget the biggest hit of 2001, All For You
|
Yeah apparently to Eternium that radio hit was never played at all that year LOL. It's not even worth the replies anymore

In my country, if i tune some radio full of classic songs, i hear MJ, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Mariah, Celine, Whitney, and like a thousand of One Hit Wonders who managed to have classics. Not a single Janet song is played...
I tune into my Top 40 radio and i hear songs by Calvin Harris, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, One Direction and even Work Bitch was #11 on that ranking the last time i checked, so i dont know if it had a bigger peak before dropping
And lately, Radio Disney Argentina is strangely playing Womanizer often after paying it dust for years

They were all ridiculously popular and if you're really old enough to remember/stan someone like Janet, then you know these performances that came after Janet's relevance ended.
Go to Les Recettes. Even Janet's inflated WW receipts are lower than Britney's WW receipts. There's no contest there; Britney outsold her.
|
And Celine Dion has outsold Britney too. Is Celine Dion a bigger Icon and Star than Britney then?
And death @ the gut. Go to sleep, you are tired.

Janet had many number hits in the late 80's and they don't play her?! No, Maybe you are being jaded and/or not checking for her but you can't deny she went head to head with everyone of that era too. You girls are reaching now.

And what performance other than her walking with a snake and kissing Madonna is so remembered by the general public? Let's not even get into Gimme More live at the VMA's.
Superbowl outshines any performance Britney ever did. Even outside of nipslip that performance slayed anything Britney has ever stiffly 8 counted. Britney could never serve that, so have a seat.
|
We can't even argue about Janet's SuperBowl performance because I don't remember it If it outshined Britney so much, why didn't it give Janet a huge career resurgence? Or at the very least, why can't people name the songs she performed?
Oops and Gimme More.
You were trying to argue Janet was more remembered than Britney is right now. Janet puts more effort in to her career now and Britney still reaps more benefits than her. Why would you say that is when Britney has been completely forgotten?

It's pretty much the same with Britney here. I hear plenty of old Avril, Xtina Beyonce and JLO classics but never Britney, why is that?

Sis, how old are you
It was on the news for MONTHS. It was talked about for years after the performance. Janet never even talked about it openly until three years later in an Oprah interview. A multi-million dollar LAWSUIT against CBS was a result of this performance. Millions of dollars were lost. If you don't remember the Superbowl performance, you must have not been born. I was 8 or 9 and I even remember it

Because she was blacklisted why the hell would the play her songs?? Chile think about what your typing, she still didn't get a lot of major support.
First now you stanned for her back in the day and in 2001 you never heard the biggest radio hit or the numerous programs covering her achievement and giving her legacy awards.
Lately's well documented and factual sales with relibale link to back them up are now over inflated.
Janet's nip slip being talked about so heavily and you forgot about that too. I'm sorry sis I can't take you seriously at all cause I can smell the bias through my screen

So because you can't remember something that means it's fact? Since when were YOU so important? And you still have yet to answer my question

It's true tho
At least Avril has timeless classics I'm With You and Complicated
Every single one of Britney's old hits sound dated. She has not one timeless classic other than Everytime.

She will do NOTHIN to live out her supposed legacy. Only people who boost her now are gays and even they can't save her.
She cannot sing. Cannot act. And sure as hell can't perform anymore. Unless she dies young or goes crazy again she is not lasting anywhere. Even mtv shaded her time and time again. No one takes her serious. All she is now is childhood nostalgia. She has shown no growth and has been spiraling downhill since 2004.

Janet is super talented and unlike Britney can still dance very well ..... But Britney had more global hits, global impact and global sales so Britney will be more remembered

Britney's old songs don't get recurrent airplay here. Janet gets a decent amount of spins on the radio.

You're from US right?
Here in Latin America Janet Jackson is literally non-existent for example.

It's not like anyone here in Latin America except for half of the gays respects her. Janet is more respected worldwide nowadays and it's not hard to imagine her being more referenced and remembered. Has any major artist sampled - or even covered -Britney, by the way? Can you picture it happening? Meanwhile the likes of Bruno Mars, Britney, Justin Timberlake, Kendrick Lamar and other have done it for Janet.
And just to be precise, the oldies stations here in Brazil do play Janet (e.g. Come Back To Me, Let's Wait Awhile, That's the Way Love Goes, Together Again, even Call On Me which was a bigger hit than any Britney Jean song...). I'm yet to see this longevity for Britney - in a place she's supposedly infinitely more successful than Janet.

I find it incredibly funny, for one thing, for someone to be more "remembered".
If you have to ask the question, then prepare yourself for the answers.
I don't have time to write out a long response to this question because it was stupid to begin with. Janet's legacy has been sustained for 30+ years. Just last year, without doing a damn thing, her music was sampled, young artists still see her as an influence, and her impact truly knows no bounds in pop culture.
Britney will be remembered, but one thing that she and the stans know that Janet Jackson was an influence..which in turn means Janet's legacy won't die. If Britney will be more remembered than Janet, then Janet will automatically be remembered as well..

Well even Madonna sampled "Gimme more"
Here in Latin America Janet is dead, even artists like Cyndi Lauper gets more plays on radio than Janet here.
You keep repeating no one cares for Britney nowadays, no shade but its the same for Janet outside of her fans who cares for her since 2001?
Britney's been downchill since "In the zone" so is Janet since "Janet"
Janet is still very talented and very respected but the question here is who will be more remembered and the one that had more impact and dominance outside the US is the answer = Britney
