I think all the stores are different, the lady I asked was working at a beauty botique store
My friend worked for an asian nail salon and she said that she will get paid $30 for the whole day (a whole day shift is 8 hours, and they only give her 8 hour shifts). But she keeps all the tips
And FYI, I'm asian and just want to share that in Chinese culture, it is normal to quit school (like, elementary) and start working right away. That's why when you go to Chinatown and you see like, 30 year old servers, or people who are 60 years old working at the super market stocking food, or doing cashier... It's because they've been doing it since they were younger and needed to support family. My uncle has been working since he was young, literally from when he was a child to now with no education. He works at Chinatown as a food supplier. When I type this all out it sounds "sad" but it's really normal.
