That's not true. The majority of ATRL said ARTPOP was a good album when it leaked. It was only until its numbers were less than Katy's, that everyone then decided that the album was ****. It's popular to dislike her at the mo, and some even hate her.
Pretty much the opposite took place when BEYONCÉ was released. ATRL has become a place of chart stans, not music.
Whenever something new is released, many people become high of it and hail it as something better than it really is. As time goes on, they become disenfranchised on it and eagerly wait for the next thing so the cycle can repeat itself. Nearly everyone here acts as though The Fame is a bad album, even though it nailed its concept more thoroughly than ARTPOP did, and it was far more successful. However, they used to bop to it and act as though it was the best release by a female pop star ever. Then came the Fame Monster. That high feeling hasn't worn off for that one because it can't be denied that it is a great body of work (unless you're just a hater that will never be satisfied with anything she does).
The problem I have with Lady Gaga, she loves to exaggerate her work as if it were made by God himself.
She's shot herself in the foot too many times boasting about Artpop and quite frankly, I love the album but its not a masterpiece. She makes people think her music is so different, and intricate, and spectacular when all she's doing is just making one good beat work with another good beat and adding lyrics.
ARTFLOP is just a generic DJWS electronic dance-pop album something like Cascada or Icona Pop would make. That's it. She's becoming full of herself and it's become off-putting. Sometimes when she talks about her album all I can do is roll my eyes because she just sits and BS's everyone.
Musicians come and musicians go. Gaga a disgusting piece of s**t is going. She's no longer the entertainer she was. That's life.
Personally, I feel that the problem stems from her relationship with the NYC monsters, not all of us in general. She's closest to them, as they meet her quite a lot; some are even on a first name basis with her. Y'all might not know this, but they were even called in to be in some parts of the DWUW music video. They were mad when the video got delayed because they were worried that their part got cut out, but whatever.
Point is, they support whatever she does. She can do anything she wants, they'll just be screaming "yaaaas gaga yas that's so amazing artpop is amazing yas b**ch wearing works of art is so good yaaaaas" and she'll believe them. And with most of her team being replaced with yes men, there is literally no one to tell her "no", or to advice her in any kind of way. If she wants to do something, her current team will do anything to make it happen.
We also have to keep in mind that she doesn't really care about what the media says anymore (or so she says) because they've always talked bad about her in some way or the other, ever since she first appeared on the scene. Not to mention that constantly over-hyping and exaggerating how good the album is made us expect something incredibly amazing.
But honestly, I'm quite content with ARTPOP. Apart from Fashion! which is still growing on me, the album is flawless, her performances were amazing and her looks (apart from three terrible ones which shall not be named) have been divine.
Yes, she's gone way too far with her "little monsters" propaganda. It's hard for a casual fan to even like Gaga to begin with because the super-fans always surface and make it all so cliché and preachy.
I remember they promoting Artpop with comments on every single Youtube videos
Outsiders might consider them as crazy obsessed brats, like how they see Beliebers. I'm not saying their view is accurate, but they reflect negatively about Gaga.
Current CD sales is valid but she's surely more interested in long-term effects of her moves and so is the label. They trust her - she brings quite good return on investment.
I'm pretty sure in her dreams=plans she's already 30 years ahead.
Hm... In 10 years todays Little Monsters will be no longer "Little".
The problem isn't the music, she made a good commercial pop album.
The problem isn't her fans, they're annoying but so are everyone elses. Not even a matter of opinion.
The problem is that perception of her turned sour and shes being given a hard time manipulating that perception back to positive and I feel like shes gotten lost in trying to please people because the reality is that she can't please the critics because they don't want her to succeed. For instance, I see people on here acting like the music is the problem meanwhile stanning for others music that is hardly better than the album, so why is it that they think they don't like the music? Why shouldn't they? They have no logical reason to. Its that they regurgitate what they think they should be thinking about her music. They regurgitate recycled ideas about what they think they're supposed to think about what she does. And imo thats whats hurt her this era, people just regurgitating distaste for her because shes Lady Gaga. What shes contributed to this is not playing the game to her benefit. She doesn't adhere to certain things that would keep her popular while still staying true to herself. She has a stubborn need to be contrary and thats not going to win anyone over. But really that is only a problem because people don't want to like her. They will literally create a reasoning for every little thing she does in regards to why its negative.
They are part of the problem. But so is GaGa herself.
I often think, though, that the delusional praise Gaga reads online when she visits sites like GagaDaily and LM.com only serve to fuel the opinion she has that she is doing everything right.
