If Rih did an "indie sounding" album they would 1) Call her a copycat and a trend-follower 2) Say she isn't genuine at all and that the sound doesn't fit her. i would not be here for that at all.
1. They already call her that, but she's getting $$$ so it doesn't matter.
2. Diamonds already proved to be a successful song, so I'd imagine the GP will use indie-Rih.
3. Indie music fans actually buy albums, so why not?

Well I certainly agree with this. At the very least, the good sis needs to be coming up with themes/imagery for her songs. I think she's a talented writer especially when it comes to deep/emotional music.
Diamonds by far has Rihanna's best vocals. They sound polished poised non goat like and the emotion is poignant.
Rihanna tried (and succeeded) to imitate Sia's raw vibrato and that mixed with her OWN accent and tone (who are unique by default) the result is so unique there is no other singer that even a little bit sounds like that, not even another Rihanna song. The vocals are pure perfection. I wish they made the backing vocals in final chorus to be main vocals in climax.
