iTunes PAYED Beyonce for an exclusive, one week, digital-only release, not the other way around. She did no conventional/traditional promo and no matter what people say, it won't change that. She sold off of her name and the hype of her album alone and not because of promo. Promo stands for promotion as in going to TV shows, radios, magazines, etc to promote new material and Beyonce did none of that.
All she did was literally drop her album without so much as a peep and the rest fell into place. There was nothing that Beyonce or her camp did that would count as "promo". Just because the album release got so much hype and coverage doesn't mean she promoted the hell out of it.
Come on, guys.
