Discussion: Is Xtina as Iconic as Bey and Brit?

Christina is just as iconic, I don't know why so many here try to diminish her legacy, if flops were the basis of removing icon status then many of those considered icons wouldn't be considered such today.
Need I remind the Britney stans comming for legend x that Britney Jean was the biggest flop of all the pop girl releases this year, selling less than Bionic & Lotus internationally.

Xtina can flop for the rest of her life and she will still remain ICONIC for one reason: her voice. She is the most respected singer of this generation by the legends like Whitney, Aretha, Celine, Etta etc. Xtina still has her natural youthful looks, voice and knows how to throw a performance, once she is hungry enough for success she will slay no doubt about it.

If SAY SOMETHING taught us something is that people want to hear her sing from the heart. She needs to follow in the footsteps of some of the R&B ladies like FANTASIA and TAMAR and deliver that soulful record about relationships and daily-basis struggles that EVERYONE CAN RELATE
Christina tends to be very self-centered with her music in such a length that many times nobody can relate to what she is singing because it's just too personal 'FOR HER' not for everyone else (like Lady Gaga's ARTPOP for example)
I mean, she was singing about supersonic rocket bionics not so long ago and on Lotus, there were too many 'SHUT UP HATERS' tunes.
Go back to the hearts, Christina, that's what we are here for. Make a connection with us

I agree with you. While I appreciate that Christina experiments, that is what she does best. Making a connection and moving people.

It hasn't sold less than lotus and even if it did, it's only been out for 1 month. PLUS, this is a discussion about how iconic their career are. If you wanna talk about recents success, how about we talk about the last time Christina had a moderate hit single as a solo artist.

*Memorable hits?? Genie, Beautiful, Lady Marmalade, What A girl wants, MLJ... take a pick!
So no... your comment is invalid
Edit. And let's not act like Britney and Beyonce have many more memorable hits and videos than Christina when Britney only has BOMT, OIDIA, and Toxic as memorable hits and as for her videos only Toxic and BOMT made an impact.
Then there's Beyonce.. let's be real. Her discography and videography is much weaker than her peers . With only SL and maaaybe CIL making impacts. So please stop acting like Christina is beneath them, when she's sitting pretty right next to these 2. :biblioç

The absolute LaReach When you make the criteria for Christina's "hits" so loose as to include WAGW (a bop, but not iconic), and MLJ which I don't even know what that is
If your standards are that low, Baby Boy and Crazy in Love both went #1 in 2003 for 8 weeks each. Irreplaceable went #1 for 10 weeks. Those three hits alone already smash all five of Christina's #1s, not even mentioning SL/CoI. If we're going on iconic songs/impact, Beyonce has Crazy in Love, Irreplaceable (to the left) and Single Ladies (put a ring on it). Xtina has Beautiful and Lady Marmalade, maybe Genie in a Bottle being generous. And if we're being that generous we either have to include Destiny's Child (SURVIVOR), or concede that Beyonce did all this giving Christina a 4 year head start
To the rest of your post, Christina has all that stuff. She IS iconic, if anyone says otherwise they're lying. But objectively, for a non-fan's perspective, as iconic as Beyonce or Britney? No. #3 of her era, sure. But not = to #1 or 2.

Sorry, but the "Beyonce no promo" is the biggest lie of 2013. Buying all the promo-banners on iTunes is the biggest promo any artist could dream of today. Not to mention all the commercials that aired during primetime tv. She didn't have hype but she did have promo. The surprise release and iTunes takeover did create hype. No shade, Beyonce and her team were on point and deserve all the success for what they did.

It sold less than it internationally and debut lower than lotus especially in the European territories.
As if it matters all Britards bragged about all year is the success of scream and shout to which she is a feature, didn't work bitch, perfume and BJ not flop though shouldn't that be brought into consideration given that is the same thing used to discredit Christina Aguilera since they cannot deny her talent and accolades.

I just think Beyoncé's moves are too well calculated towards the direction of 'make me a legend'. It just doesn't seem real, natural, from the heart IMO like it did for Whitney for example. It's not something that the stars aligned and happened for her due to her natural gift and talent, it is something SHE is moving hills and planets to make it happen for her.
|
What Are you even old enough to remember what it was like when Whitney was becoming a legend (91-94ish)? And no, not having been born or in diapers that time, but able to discuss her impact? If so I'll gladly stand correct, but if not

Work bitch went top 15 classifying it as a moderate hit, xtina hasn't even had one since what, 2008?
In January 2013, Lotus had sold around 215,000 copies
As of now, Britney Jean has sold over 400,000 copies
