I have no idea about the asian countries, but the fact of the matter is both of them have areas where they are stronger than the other.

Don't even try and bring up touring because Katy'd 2nd tour was held in the middle of her era and she was much bigger when the era ended as compared to when it started. Rihanna has had many eras but JUST broke the $100 million mark with her 5th tour. That's not something you should be trying to drag Katy with.

And her sound is switched up, BUT that is NOT her album. There is a reason why her albums stall at 3 million sales. They are full of filler and the only good songs are the 1-2 big singles they try and push.

And Katy said she lowered her ticket prices, but in reality they are still expensive so don't even try that.

And please, Rihanna fans stop embarrassing yourselves with this "Icon" award. It's the American Music Awards, something America hardly even cares about a few days after it aired. Stop embarrassing yourselves for acting like it's anything more than it is.

And neither Rihanna NOR Katy have outstanding vocals. Stop trying to use that

I'm going to say Rihanna. She's been her for over 8 years and is showing no signs of slowing down. Katy will still do well though.

Do some research before trying. Katy doesn't steal writing credits. She even wrote songs for other artists and has credits without co-writers for example Thinking Of You, she's the only writer credited. Producers are always credited on her songs.

There are countless interviews where other people talk about how Katy came with the concept for different songs, and she has talked about the writing of most of her lyrics.

1. Katy can also be versatile, if she wants to. E.T and Dark Horse proved that.
The reason why Rihanna discography is more diverse, is probably because of her 384297423 albums, compared to Katy's 3.

2. Not really a talent.

3. Keep telling yourself that. Katy is still a much better writer than Rihanna and she has co-written all of her songs from the beginning. Tell me, has Rihanna ever writing a song on her own?
Yeah, didn't think so.

4. Katy can play the guitar as seen on X-Factor, don't even try it. She also happens to play the piano, while Rihanna doesn't play a single instrument.

You know that Roar has been out a lot longer than Monster?

So if not we're not to look at billboard 100 so much, what should we look at? iTunes?

Uh yes? Itunes gives a better representation than the Hot 100 because the hot 100 is too easily manipulated. Judging from how many people are actually buying the song, the radio is forcing The Monster on America, not like we're asking for it

Itunes actually has people who like the song BUYING it. The Monster has a shitload of airplay yet it's already falling drastically digitally when it isn't even 3x platinum yet.

Right, they'd totally put her name on there if she hadn't even written it meaning that they'd earn less money from royalties as it'd have to be spread out more

She doesn't write with "538474" other writers, usually it's just the producers (who usually get a writing credit for the instrumentation, not the lyrics) or just one or two other co-writers.

Katy writes her own music. Stop it.

Yes, Katy can play the guitar perfectly well. She composed the entirity of Thinking of You, One of the Boys (the song) and Mannequin (at least, since they're the songs she wrote alone) on the guitar on her own.
