I always liked Daft Punk but Random Access Memories is an overrated album, that's the truth, sorry guys.
|
You say this, and you left off the two best songs on the album.
Here's the thing about RAM: If you don't really care for the 70's dance sound, you're probably not going to care about it all that much. If you DO care about it, it's one of the best albums of the last decade. It just encapsulates that era SO well.
Other than three of the last four albums, I haven't listened to many albums from the last set. I'm just glad you think that a lot of songs on the Paramore album are better than "Still Into You", because they are. And yeah, "Step" is the best song on VW's new one. No "Hannah Hunt", though?

Which songs? at the first listen I really liked RAM but compared with their other albums RAM is a little weak. Still Into You is not even close to be their hit for the album
I'm glad to know Step is your favorite songs too I like Hannah Hunt too, the full album is amazing but I'm tired of HH

BEST ALBUMS OF 2013
#10. Hurts
Exile
 |
Exile is the second studio album by English synthpop duo Hurts, released on 8 March 2013 by Major Label. The album was produced by Hurts, along with Jonas Quant with whom the duo worked on their debut album, Happiness (2010) and Dan Grech-Marguerat. "Miracle" was released on 11 January 2013 as the lead single from the album, followed by "Blind" on 10 May 2013 and "Somebody to Die For" on 19 July 2013. Upon release, the album debuted in the Top 10 in 23 countries worldwide. Exile received mixed reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 59, based on 16 reviews, which indicates "mixed or average reviews". Simon Price of The Independent wrote that "Exile employs greater variety than Happiness, from acoustic piano to shock what sounds like electric guitar, but without sacrificing any of the grandeur. It's often reminiscent of Soft Cell or late 1980s Depeche Mode. It's on close personal terms with magnificence." Dan Martin of the NME compared Exile to Muse's album The 2nd Law and stated that, "by hooking their comeback on Exile's lead single 'Miracle', reminded everyone just how bloody fantastic they were at writing anthemic songs." Their debut album was amazing, I was expecting something like Happiness but ok, Exile is not bad, just different. I really don't like some songs that sounds like Muse or Depeche Mode, much electronic influencie but there's awesome songs like Somebody To Die For, Heaven, Blind and The Hope that made the album for me.
Genre: Synthpop / Eletronic
Favorite Tracks:
1. Somebody To Die For
2. Heaven / Help
3. Guilt / The Hope
4. Only You |
#9. The 1975
The 1975
 |
The 1975 is the self-titled debut album by English alternative rock band from Manchester, The 1975. It was released on 2 September 2013 through Dirty Hit/Polydor. It was recorded with Arctic Monkeys collaborator Mike Crossey. On 8 September 2013, the album debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. In a 2012 interview with Elliot Mitchell of When the Gramophone Rings, The 1975 frontman Matt Healy said the band had a different approach to recording the album than to the EPs: "I think the best albums are ones where every track could be a potential single. Both our EP’s center around a lead track whilst showcasing a wider body of work, whereas we feel the album is lead track after lead track, with all the alternative moments captured in an accessible way." He also said that the album had been "five years in the making, formed through the many different incarnations of the band," and added that it is "drenched in our identity and it’s everything that we are. It does span a lot of genres and depth, but it’s still a coherent piece of work and everything that makes our band our band, personally I would say it’s an ambitious debut record." On the album content, Healy said: "This recording process has been really fun, as we’ve had a lot of these songs for a while, and to record them in a completely different mindset with a completely different outlook has been really interesting. (...) There album isn’t a haberdashery of past singles and old stuff, it has been focused down into a collective piece of work. There’s tracks on there that people would have heard live, and older tracks that we’ve reworked. This album is a soundtrack to our formative years, so it would be dishonest to not put songs on there that we wrote when we were 21, as we want people to connect to it in the same way that we do." He described the musical style as "pretty experimental, and goes from glitchy R&B to big 80’s powerpop to mid 90’s soul, but it’s done in our way obviously.
Genre: Alternative Rock / Indie Rock
Favorite Tracks:
1. Robbers / Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You
2. Pressure / Chocolate / The City
3. Menswear
4. M.O.N.E.Y. |

It was released on 4 March 2013 in the United Kingdom, and on 3 September 2013 in the United States, and features the singles "Overjoyed", "Bad Blood", "Flaws", "Pompeii", "Laura Palmer" and "Things We Lost in the Fire". It has also successfully charted on the US Billboard 200, as well as in several other countries. The record debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was certified platinum in the UK. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 58, based on 12 reviews. Brice Ezell of PopMatters compared the band to the sound of Coldplay and wrote, "booming male choirs, string effects, echoey pianos, allusions to Greek mythology and the Bible, Bastille brings out all the artillery on Bad Blood, and the result is nothing less than earth-shattering." He concluded that "for all 43 enrapturing minutes of Bad Blood, you’ll be convinced that everything and everyone you’ve ever loved are suddenly leaving you, and now the only thing left to do is reach out and declare from the mountaintops all the things you’ve kept secret in your life. That heightened sense of immediacy is hard to keep up, but Bastille does it remarkably well, resulting in a debut that’s as infectious as it is dramatically powerful."
Genre: Alternative / Eletronic / Synthpop

One of my favorite indie bands, I don't much to say about Trouble Will Find Me but the album is a little surprise for me, better than I was expecting. I can not forget to say how I love Matt Berninger voice everything that he sings sounds good, I don't know, I just love his voice, his voice give me peace and makes me very calm.
Genre: Indie Rock / Alternative

#6. Ben Howard
Every Kingdom (Deluxe Version)
|
Every Kingdom is the first debut studio album by British singer-songwriter Ben Howard. It was released in the United Kingdom on 30 September 2011 as a digital download, on CD, on LP and as a 200 copy limited edition cassette. It reached a peak chart position of 4 in the UK Albums Chart on 24 February 2013 following his success at the Brit Awards that week. The songs on the album were written by Ben Howard and produced by Chris Bond The cover art was designed by Owen Tozer, based on photography by Mickey Smith and Roddy Bow. The album was nominated for the 2012 Mercury Prize. The success of Jack Johnson and (non-surfing but Cornwall-affiliated) Newton Faulkner has created an inviting niche for beach-bum strummers. Ben Howard, 24, is more earnest and a touch artier than most. His acoustic style recalls Faulkner but his preoccupations are anxiety and faltering relationships, and his wistful croon is closer to Devendra Banhart and Ray LaMontagne. The results are too easy on the ear to be convincing – more getting deep round the campfire than genuine soul-baring – but highlights "Black Flies" and "Promise" are nice enough studies in soft-focus angst. I never expected to love an artist of this genre like Ben Howard his voice is a bless, this guy has something that I don't know how to explain. Maybe his raspy voice and his style can be a start. Everything started when a friend sent me two songs: Only Love and Keep Your Head Up, I really liked both songs but I NEVER thought that Ben would be my new love. I'm so proud to love one artist like Ben because he's a TRUE ARTIST. He makes music with his soul. Welcome to my life Ben.
Genre: Folk / Indie Folk / Acoustic / Singer-Songwriter
Favorite Tracks:
1. Only Love / Keep Your Head Up / I Will Be Blessed
2. Old Pine / The Fear / These Waters
3. The Wolves / Diamonds / Bones / Move Like You Want (Live)
4. Gracious / Under The Same Sun |
#5. CHVRCHES
The Bones of What You Believe
|
The Bones of What You Believe is the debut studio album by Scottish synthpop band Chvrches. It was released on 20 September 2013 by Virgin Records and Goodbye Records. The album has spawned the singles "The Mother We Share", "Recover" and "Gun". The album was made available as both a twelve-track standard edition and eighteen-track special version. The latter includes two extra songs, two remixes and two live videos. The album's title derives from a lyric in the song "Strong Hand" and refers to the raw "creativity and effort" that served as the skeleton for the album, according to lead singer Lauren Mayberry. The Bones of What You Believe was met with very positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 81, based on 38 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Reed Fischer of Alternative Press wrote, "The heartbreaking and indignation in Lauren Mayberry's laser-precise voice makes her an imperfect protagonist in the song length dramas found throughout her band's debut". It was listed at number 32 on Rolling Stone's list of the 50 Best Albums of 2013. Flawless debut album, I knew CHVRCHES would be big since I heard "The Mother We Share" last year, they're one of my favorite new bands and I'm so happy for their success The Bones of What You Believe is a perfect mix of synthpop, eletronic and catchy songs with vocals of Lauren Mayberry. I can not forget to say how lovely and cute Lauren is.
Genre: Synthpop / Eletronic
Favorite Tracks:
1. Night Sky
2. The Mother We Share / Tether
3. Recover / By The Throat / We Sink
4. Gun / You Caught The Light |
#4. London Grammar
If You Wait
|
If You Wait is the début studio album by English electronic music band London Grammar. It was released on 9 September 2013 on Metal & Dust Records, while being distributed by Warner/Chappell and Columbia Records. Four singles have been released from the album: "Metal & Dust", "Wasting My Young Years", "Strong" and "Nightcall". The album's lyrics are mainly based upon vocalist Hannah Reid's personal life; in particular her troublesome teenage years. The Guardian suggested that this was "the first quarter-life-crisis album." If You Wait received generally positive reviews from critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has received an average score of 77, based on 16 reviews. Andy Gill of The Independent summarised the album's production and instrumentation as "all beautifully sketched to evoke the crepuscular [sic] intimacies of the songs." A large quantity of praise went to the vocal ability of Reid, whose husky contralto vocals have been described as "defining and soulful" by Clash magazine and "emotive" and "folky" by Drowned in Sound. Her voice has been compared to artists like Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, Annie Lennox, Lana Del Rey, and Julee Cruise. Oh god, why Hannah Reid has a blessed voice? bands like London Grammar always catch my attention, I really love their sound. If You Wait is a perfect debut album, there's no bad song.
Genre: Indie Pop / Eletronic
Favorite Tracks:
1. Strong / Wasting My Young Years
2. Sights / Stay Awake / If You Wait
3. Metal & Dust / Flickers / Hey Now

#3. Sara Bareilles
The Blessed Unrest
|
The Blessed Unrest is the third full-length studio album by American singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles. The album was released on July 12, 2013 through Epic Records. The lead single from the album, titled "Brave", was released digitally on April 23, 2013.[3] It sold 68,000 copies in its first week of release in the United States and te album is nominated for the 2014 Grammy Award for Album of the Year. (Deal with it basic bitches, your favorites could nevah.) The Blessed Unrest was recorded in New York City and Los Angeles in early 2013 with co-producers John O'Mahony and Kurt Uenala. Electric Lady Studios was used to record the tracks in New York City. One of the best comeback this year. I really was expecting her comeback but I'm not expecting a huge comeback like this. I always liked Sara and I think she's one of the most talented nowadays but I never enjoyed one album of her like The Blessed Unrest. The Blessed Unrest was love at the first heard, I don't know how to explain but I knew sooner or later this album would be beloved worlwide. Sara really deserves all the sucess and I hope she wins the Grammy, would be awesome for her carrer.
Genre: Pop / Singer-Songwriter / Piano
Favorite Tracks:
1. Islands / Satellite Call
2. Brave / 1000 Times / Chasing The Sun
3. I Choose You / Manhattan / Little Black Dress
4. Eden |
#2. Céline Dion
Loved Me Back to Life
|
Loved Me Back to Life is the eleventh English-language studio album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Sony Music Entertainment on 1 November 2013. It was preceded by the lead single and title track, "Loved Me Back to Life," which was released on 3 September 2013. Loved Me Back to Life is Dion's first English-language studio album since Taking Chances (2007). It was produced by Emanuel Kiriakou, Babyface, Tricky Stewart, Aaron Pearce, Kuk Harrell, Eg White, Play Production, Ne-Yo and Walter Afanasieff among others. The album includes two duets: "Incredible" with Ne-Yo and "Overjoyed" with Stevie Wonder. Loved Me Back to Life garnered mostly positive reviews from music critics and has sold more than 1.1 million copies worldwide. Loved Me Back to Life garnered mostly positive reviews from music critics. According to the music review aggregator Metacritic, it has received a score of 65/100, indicating generally favorable reviews. AllMusic gave the album three and a half (out of five) stars, and called it "a record that flirts with new ideas but never hooks up. Yet, that flirtation counts for something: it means the album is livelier, less self-conscious, less beholden to the expected, and quick-footed enough to not seem mired in show biz glitz." The review by Erlewine noted that "there's nothing here that screams big hit but it's something better: the work of a diva who is comfortable in her own skin." In a positive review, The New York Times critic Jon Caramanica first noted Dion's usual musical inclinations towards melodrama and bombast, noting that "She is the iceberg, destroying all Titanics." However, he then commended Dion's attempt to evolve, commenting "that she'd bother to innovate at all on the strong 'Loved me back to Life', her first English-language album in six years, is worthy in and of itself. Compared with her usual motor-powered balladry, this album is positively peppy. You can just register the faint outline of contemporary R&B and even hip-hop, thanks to a pair of productions by Tricky Stewart. (On the vinyl version of the track 'Save Your Soul,' there's a rap interlude by Malcolm David Kelley, late of 'Lost' and now of the pop-hip-hop duo MKTO.). Caramanica also complimented Dion's improved delivery: "On this album she's singing with more rhythm, if not more clarity, than usual." Finally the queen is back, legend Dion I was expecting the new english album since the release of her french album last year. Loved Me Back To Life would be released last year but I'm glad she released in 2013. Loved Me Back To Life is a lovely album, her vocals are better than ever and I can't forget to say about the beautiful lyrics, Thank You and Always Be Your Girl speaks what I'm trying to say Loved Me Back To Life is a perfect mix of amazing genre, pop, r&b, pop / rock, soul, even hip-hop, great album. Long life for the queen.
Genre: Pop / R&B / Pop Rock
Favorite Tracks:
1. Thank You
2. Unfinished Songs / Always Be Your Girl
3. Loved Me Back To Life / Incredible (Duet With Ne-Yo)
4. Didn't Know Love / Somebody Loves Somebody / Breakaway |
#1. Dido
Girl Who Got Away
|
Girl Who Got Away is the fourth studio album by English singer-songwriter Dido. The album was released in Europe on 4 March 2013, and in North America on 26 March 2013, and serves as the follow-up to 2008's Safe Trip Home. The album was preceded by promotional single "Let Us Move On" (featuring Kendrick Lamar) and official singles "No Freedom" and "End of Night". The album peaked to number 5 on the UK Albums Chart, her fourth Top 5 album in the UK. Dido announced via her official website that the recording of the album had taken place in both London and California, and that some of the material had been recorded in her own hotel room, with a keyboard and a microphone. She also described the album as a "big, fun, electronic extravaganza". In an interview with the Daily Mail, Dido revealed that the album will feature production from Rollo Armstrong, Sister Bliss, Lester Mendez, A. R. Rahman, Rick Nowels, Greg Kurstin, Brian Eno and Jeff Bhasker, and that the album is on the verge of being completed. Girl Who Got Away received mixed to average responses from music critics. At Metacritic which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 59, based on 12 reviews. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic gave the album 4 (out of 5 stars), writing that, "while her last album, Safe Trip Home, was tailored for domesticity, Girl Who Got Away is a soundtrack for a night out," praising Dido for "adapting to her gently shifting surroundings, feeling perfectly at home in this neon-streaked production, savoring how it swings from understated but insistent beats to a soft acoustic bed. Perhaps it's lifestyle music, designed to reflect the aspirations and desires of her audience, but it's impeccably executed and slyly seductive lifestyle music." Robert Copsey of Digital Spy gave the album four out of five stars praising the "pleasantly folky midtempo melody and sleepy vocal" as well as the album's "unexpected and - whisper it - dancier direction". Caroline Sullivan of The Guardian called "a Dido album that doesn't induce a desire to listen to something else," calling it "surprisingly interesting." Finally Dido's back I was expecting years and years for her comeback and she's here better than ever. I don't even know how to start to speak about Girl Who Got Away, I guess the album was made for my perfect moment. I always liked her songs, but I'm not gonna lie... Dido called my attention only 2 years ago when I started to listen her discography. Life for Rent is a masterpiece and No Angel is a great album too, and when I knew she was coming back I was so excited for her new era and she didn't dissapointed me, Girl Who Got Away is a bless and Dido is one of my favorite singers now. Sometimes I feel bad that some people are not much interested in her songs, that's a shame because she's a truly singer.
Genre: Pop / Chillout
Favorite Tracks:
1. Girl Who Got Away / No Freedom
2. Let Us Move On (feat. Kendrick Lamar) / End Of Night / Day Before We Went to War
3. Sitting on the Roof of the World
