It may seem like all entertainers and athletes are wealthy because the big stars are all we pay attention to; however, that couldn't be any further from the truth. For every Beyonce, Angelina Jolie and Kobe Bryant, there are tens to hundreds of thousands wedding singers, local ballet company, symphony players, theater actors, vocal and acting coaches, arena football players, minor league baseball players and so on that earn very average salaries in the same fields as those huge names with very abnormal earning levels that we're accustomed to discussing. Looking from that perspective, the average entertainer or athlete really isn't earning millions upon millions a year -- nowhere near close to that.
Just like for every very large group of middle class earning scientists, educators etc. there are people earning on the extreme end -- the person that came up with a certain drug that's worth hundreds of millions, the ivy league school president that's earning millions on the lecture circuit. There are extremely wealthy people in nearly every field imaginable and they're always just a microcosm and extreme exception. Every one can't and won't earn millions for what they do, even though it may seem unfair that someone can earn so much for something so relatively inconsequential.

The thing is the Kardashian are smart people, not everyone can turn a sex tape into a business and make billions. Same with Paris Hilton she plays the dumb blonde act but she actually pretty smart and managed to create a huge empire.

there are regular ass programmers in Apple, Google, Facebook etc. making more than a lot of popstars.
So are doctors, scientists etc/ the only injustice is public servants (police, firemen, teachers etc.)

?
Your point is flawed though. It goes with the incorrect assumption that ALL entertainers are overpaid while ALL educators, scientists, public servants etc. are underpaid and that's just not true.
I get why you're passionate, I do. I am just saying extreme earners in any given profession is not the norm.

It's a good argument.
But that high-earning scientist and educator most likely did something that advanced our society by quite a lot. Developed a new scientific theory, invented a new drug, etc.
What did Kim Kardashian do again to advance our society?
Huh?

You just compared curing cancer to a girl singing pop music for a bunch of tweens.

You actually can *stares at Stephen Hawking* and there is a prize of $25M for a person who can discover a cheap, single-dose method for sterilizing dogs and cats imagine what the prize is for the cure of cancer...

This society runs on what people are willing to pay for, that's all there is to it. It may not be entirely fair, but it's how economics works.

In 2001, Virgin Records signed Mariah Carey to one of the biggest contracts in record-industry history — a five-album deal that guaranteed her an estimated $100 million. After dishing the pop diva a cool $21 million at the outset of the contract, the record company would, just one year later, pay Carey an additional $28 million to buy out her contract.
When will your faves get paid 28 million dollars TO GO AWAY?

We're going in circles here. The society is ignorant. It's not an excuse to go with the flow.

It's not about being "smart." It's about being white or white enough and having sponsors shower you with opportunities for profit that you wouldn't otherwise have if you were perceived as a person of color. There are black women with sex tapes (Nicole Narrain, Karinne Steffans ) that don't have producers and sponsors knocking down their doors giving them reality shows and endorsements.

I disagree. Entertainment is part of a healthy life.

I think Kim Kardashian is useless, but there is obviously a market for her and her family's brand of "entertainment." She is of value to someone.
On the flip side, I don't think all drugs developed contribute to the advancement of our society, however, someone and some company has made millions, billions and looking at the pharmaceutical industry overall, trillions. It happens in every arena.

It's not like money is just handed to them, we go see them on tour and we pay for the tickets. We buy the albums, the songs, and the merchandise and not everyone makes what major pop stars make. Only about 5 of them a generation make really big money.

Someone answer me: What did my fave, P!nk do, to advance the society, so that she deserves the millions she's making, while some scientists who have made life-changing discoveries have died in poverty?
