another set where I like every song
I have to say, when it comes to Maroon 5 I like One More Night so much better than Daylight. But I know I'm the only one who actually likes that song
|
I like One More Night, at least more than Payphone and Love Somebody. But then I got really pissed at it being no.1 for like 9 weeks and it getting played so damn many times

And today, we finally kick off the Top 50 Singles! Keep your eyes peeled to see if your faves makes it into the upper tier of my musical hierarchy

|
#50 |
Carried Away
Passion Pit
Peak: 12
Weeks on chart: 13
2012: Princess of China (feat. Rihanna) - Coldplay
The last of three entries by Passion Pit. The song is cool, but the video is just totally awesome. Like what I read somewhere, it's basically 500 Days of Summer (the good parts only though) in over 3 minutes.
|

|
#49 |
Alone Together
Fall Out Boy
Peak: 18
Weeks on chart: 12
2012: Diamonds - Rihanna
Probably the most poppy song by FOB, but it's still one hell of a bop. used to misread the lyrics "I'm on deck yeah I'm up next" as "I'm a dick and I'm a mess". I prefer my version a lot more.
|

|
#48 |
Goodbye, Goodbye
Tegan and Sara
Peak: 2
Weeks on chart: 11 (still charting)
2012: Don't Stop (Colors on the Wall) - Foster the People
The first of three Tegan and Sara entries. People like to say this is an inferior version of Closer. Well, at first listen I think I liked this more than Closer. But never did I think this would be a single though.
|

|
#47 |
Crazy Kids
Ke$ha
Peak: 7
Weeks on chart: 11
2012: Sweet Nothing (feat. Florence Welch) - Calvin Harris
The best single off Warrior, only to be ruined by a remix with a certain abomination. I remember at first listen I was kinda underwhelmed by this song, especially with everyone all praising it. Like, I keep anticipating some epic breakdown after each chorus cos the chorus has this rising melody. But soon I appreciated that fact and really really loved this song.

|
#46 |
22
Taylor Swift
Peak: 6
Weeks on chart: 13
2012: Marry the Night - Lady Gaga
The Lord's worst single ever. Like seriously bitch what made you think it's okay to release 3 Max Basic Martin in a row to pop? Even though this song is total crap, if you really wanted it as a single, could you not wait till summer and not during spring? This song totally derailed Red from being a huge era and now she's back to square one where she was after the Speak Now era.

Crazy Kids! My fave from this set, I love it.
Carried Away is amazing too. I've been hating every song that Fob has been releasing with this era, but I just heard Alone Together yesterday pn the radio and it's not that bad

FOB, T&S, Ke$ha and Taylor
Don't really get why GBGB was a single, either. But then again it was only released in Canada I think so it's not like it matters anyway

FOB + Taylor (The drag tho. )
Goodbye Goodbye was one of my least faves in the album, should've been Drove Me Wild.

60-56: I can see your argument on "Same Love", but I don't know, I think Mack's flow works. And "Take A Walk" is great.

Of course I had to jump onto the bandwagon when this song was smashing.
|
I remember thinking that I was so late getting into the song at the end of the year...2012. Boy, was I proven wrong there.
50-46: I've been carried away. Goodbye, goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye. Okay, I'll stop now.

House of Gold
twenty | one | pilots
Peak: 1
Weeks on chart: 8 (still charting)
2012: Set Fire to the Rain - Adele
The last twenty | one | pilots entry. It's just awesome that this song is just the ukuleles and the guy's voice. It sounds almost like a nursery rhyme, as the verses are mostly repeated. Right at the bridge, where he screams a few words, just tops this song off perfectly.

Made In the USA
Demi Lovato
Peak: 8
Weeks on chart: 11
2012: Begin Again - Taylor Swift
At first when I saw the song title, I thought this was gonna be some patriotic song, like how she's an all American girl or something. But no it's a love song and I find it weird to boast about your relationship being made in the US. If you are American, most likely your relationship takes place in the US right? Other than that, it's a really good and catchy song and I really like the banjos in the bridge. It really brings the "American" feel to it.

The Phoenix
Fall Out Boy
Peak: 5
Weeks on chart: 10
2012: Your Body - Christina Aguilera
An epic song. The strings in the song makes it so grand and threatening.
|

|
#42 |
The Mother We Share
CHVRCHES
Peak: 1
Weeks on chart: 10 (still charting)
2012: Good Time (feat. Carly Rae Jepsen) - Owl City
I found out about CHVRCHES a couple of months ago and I love them. I just really like the synths and stuff in the song.

Here's To Never Growing Up
Avril Lavigne
Peak: 6
Weeks on chart: 13
2012: Brokenhearted - Karmin
Let's be honest, I was disappointed by this song when it came out. So much autotune, such a basic melody, and it's nothing new from Avril. But it's just so catchy.
