I think that the problem with Coven is the comedy... This season is not dark enough, I think that's the only reason it's not as good as Asylum. But, as I said, the final episodes can change everything

This. It's American HORROR Story so it should be dark. I understand Ryan wanting to go a little lighter after last season but I just feel like it is too happy. Still loving it though, just not as much as Asylum.

I think the problem with Coven is you don't have to fear for your favorite characters because even if they die they somehow come back. I remember praying for my favorite characters lives in Asylum but in Coven there's no feel of danger.

Coven is a bit too cliched .It seems like with this season their demographics is teenage girls middle aged women. I used to love their Rated r Asylum stuff specially the scene where nazi doctor did some testing on sex addict and stuff

Started this show last week from Murder House and I'm up to date now in Coven. Asylum>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It made sense from a marketing perspective for them to make Coven. If they hadn't had some light relief after how dark Asylum was, they'd scare off viewers and be criticised for being repetitive. A show like AHS needs to reinvent itself so people continue to support the stand-alone season story structure.

I think Murphy knew that tapping into the Walking Dead and supernatural series crowd would be beneficial for the shows life. It seems to have broadened the appeal - opened it back up again to new viewers after Asylum closed it with the heavy content. Hopefully they find a balance with the next season because Coven may be a bit too tame for the most part (the slave torture at the start was by far the worst).
