Why is it not fair?

Every major release in the past 5-6 years has leaked at least a week before the date and artists like Bey have every right to protect their work.

If physical retailers weren't so TERRIBLE at containing leaks this wouldn't happen. And in an age when major artists lose $1000s of potential revenue because everyone downloaded the leak a week early they should do everything they can to stop it.

Besides, the album is already one of the best selling albums this year, Bey and her team won't care that much,

Yea but since it comes with videos, most people are going to buy a physical copy too, so they can watch them on a TV.

And IDK about the US but Amazon is quite popular in Germany, so it's basically your first choice when you want to buy CDs/DVDs online and they still would've made a lot of money

People on this site are so aggressive.

Beyoncé has every right to not want to release her album physically first week, but retailers also have every right to refuse to sell it if they feel they've lost business by not being allowed to be one of the first retailers to sell it. It's nothing to do with 'being pressed over Beyoncé', it's all to do with them losing millions in Revenues if Katy, Gaga, Adele, Rihanna etc etc follow her lead and stop selling physicals. Them refusing to sell Beyoncé will make Katy think twice before making her album iTunes exclusive for a week. Learn some business.

Also, leaks don't kill album sales, releasing crap albums and allowing people to download the 1 or 2 tracks they like individually kills album sales.
