Okay, I didn't read the interview until now. He is clearly uneducated when it comes to the gay community. In the interview he also said that black people were 'happier' before the civil movement.

Not only did they pretty much skew his words, the fact people are more in arms about this than the fact that he said some equally questionable things about black people and others is sickening smh.

What makes me really mad is that Paula Deen made racist remarks and everyone was freaking, and she basically lost her entire "empire," but this guy comes around bashing the gay community and he has tons of supported and people backing up his statement. It's disgusting.

ignorance is ignorance, and everybody seems to getting pissed off over one piece of ignorance than the other, and its stupid, and hypocritical, and pretty much proves my point that gay people, women (and sometimes black people) are just media punchlines at this point for ad revenue.

I just got caught up on this. His comments weren't as rude as I thought they would be but he does sound idiotic.

What are you talking about? He got a lot of critisism for his racist rant. Remember Paula Deen? As soon she said something racist on tv EVERYONE was okay with getting rid of her, but when this guy says homophobic **** people start defending him to God knows what end. Was there a facebook page that said "Stand with Paula Deen" were people saying "Paula Deen was just expressioning freedom of speech and religion". No.

Also, this whole outrage has been mostly started from the internet (where the interview was posted). The media does pay attention to gays, women, and black people, because they're minorities that often get discriminated against.

You act like it's our duty to equally balance what ignorant comments we complain about and make sure that we balance out his ignorance while it's HIS duty as a member of modern day society to not be making any racist/homophobic/sexist/ignorant comments to begin with. Can we not make this a gay vs black thing? He discriminated against us both. Let's attack him and not each other.

Also, I think part of the reason is the race comments are not brought up as often is because the Christians/far right are mostly ignoring them, because what he said about race was worse, which makes it harder to defend. It's slightly less socially acceptable to make fun of blacks than gays. I'm not saying gays are discriminated against more, but blacks face more internalized racism, while people are more blunt about their homophobia.
