The album is great. Def not her best nor groundbreaking but it's a solid pop album. Gaga just needs to learn to let her "art" speak for itself. I mean before she never really shoved anything down our throats now it's art art art. Oh well I still love the bitch!

ARTPOP is a great pop album and I don't see how it is worse or better than The Fame. She should be on a much higher level than that by now, but that material just wasn't chosen for the album

I just hope her next work lives up the creativity she speaks of. If she is following in her own footsteps, then I expect her next piece of work to put her money where her mouth is.

That's a fair point, but I think ultimately it comes down to:

1. They will want a new album out next year for damage control and because AP is unlikely to last beyond 3 singles.

2. That album would therefore be released when she's still touring ARTPOP, leading to a mess if it isn't ARTPOP related.

3. They'll want more hits to sell tour tickets.

4. She can delay reinventing herself for one more album, they can have one more formulaic era with safe pop and collabs etc.

5. Presenting it as ARTPOP ACT II will invite negative ties, but also excuse expectations of reinvention. The pressure will be less, whereas a new record/era would need a lot more time/thought. As long as she delivers good pop songs - she'll be in with a chance.

6. Combined sales will excuse underperformance.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with 'just' making great pop albums. Great pop songs and her being shamelessly pop are the reason this woman has (had) a following
Constantly delivering an amazing pop hit after the another (along with stunning videos and performances of course) made her the big star she is. Her snubbing pop music to go make some Bjork stuff because it's 'more artistic' would totally go against her 'pop music will never be lowbrow' message she carried during the first two eras.

Also The Fame is much better

I know she loves the whole idea of 'art', but it is off-putting to the GP when she talks about it so much in her interviews. If she lets her music speak for itself, and allow people to realise that she is a WRITER AND PRODUCER, they will realise her ARTISTIC and MUSICAL talent. THEN she will be considered to be an artist; not when she is telling everyone she is one...

Not when your album is titled ARTPOP. And the standards are different for Gaga now that things have changed. Those other pop stars reinvented their music to fit other huge pop songs of their time.

And I wouldn't say shameless pop is what Gaga. Look at Kesha, who followed a similar formula but didn't change her act soon enough. What made Gaga larger than life was the fact that she was in it to kill it (Bad Romance video, her mystique).

Stefani still thinks it is 2009, but she looks happy so

I am here for ARTPOP Volume II. I think this era is bringing her back into the good books of the GP, and a re-release would solidify that opinion.

The problem for me is this.

I though that POP would represent her songs and ART her performances/videos.

Except for some of the pictures nothing has really been ART for me. I mean something SPECIAL.

I was really hoping for something "weirder" if you gonna call it ARTpop.
