Gaga could almost do well by creating an additional alter-ego but release singles, an album and videos all under that name but specifically, go out of her way to avoid being found out (court injunctions and whatnot). This could be done with an effort to photoshop her nose, eye colour etc, change her voice a bit.
She gets to do what she loves, gets the public on board and then massive drama when she reveals they are the same person.
