The whole point of the hype is that no one knew about it other than 12 people. There's a fairly big chance (100%) it would have been leaked if it was sent to be made into CD's and shipped. By releasing it digital only first, they were able to keep it secret, and explode all over the news when it was released. The other thing about the album that's unique are the videos, most people would probably buy the iTunes version anyway to get the videos, we'll find that out later.

I don't see why you feel the need to defend her sales when I'm not dragging them? I was just correcting someone who posted something delusional, unless you somehow felt the person was right, I don't see the reason for replying to me?

??? It's not a guaranteed success. It had a huge chance of backfiring and flopping, they shot 17 videos, if the news of her album leaked out it would have ruined everything. Which would have happened if they released it physically. If they released it physically it would have sold less, therefore "digital only" isn't a handicap like with other albums, due to the brilliant strategy.

I wonder if anything from the album could become a pop hit worldwide. I love the album, but it's full of TKO's and Take Back the Night's in terms of pop hit potential. I can't find a Mirrors, maybe Pretty Hurts... It's similar to Best Thing I Never Had in terms of sound, which did decent on pop, and the theme isn't overly sexual like the rest of the album.

People trying to dissect the album and commenting on the lack of "hit singles" are missing the point of the album entirely.

Well after new year it's sales will drop, but that's applies to all albums and not only to Beyonce. Most importantly she will have great holiday sales and will stay in top tier for some time. Also it's not like they will not promote album at all and she can get some big hit (XO and Pretty Hurts sounds like that for me) that will carry album sales for a while (see JGMAR effect on TTAL)
