Oh yeah because A Great Big World was a very known name, everybody knew them. Bitch please even the most dedicated music fans in the world didn't even know they existed. They are tons of songs and groups far better than Say Something flying in the air but they'll never get the audiences needed.
Xtina met them, took root in one of their songs, brought them where she works to the massive exposition of The Voice and that's it the song was landed.
It's as much a "The Voice sphere" song as Move Like Jagger. Even more in this case, at least Maroon 5 could do it on their own.
