Damn. This new SNSD Japanese album sounds really, really disappointing. Don't use their Korean material at all and now their JP stuff is going downhill. Sucks. I guess it'd be difficult for any group to maintain the standard they set with their first album, but even if they made an album as good as GIRLS & PEACE it would've been acceptable.
Surprised by the negativity tbh, I think all the new tracks sound MUCH better than Girls & Peace. Flyers, Motorcycle, Gossip Girls, and Everyday Love (which is the j-ballad I have been WAITING for from them) give me that happy little "this is a really good pop song" feeling and Lips and Karma Butterfly also sound good.
I feel like if they had waited a bit and combined the best tracks from Girls & Peace and Love & Peace they would've made an album that better measured up to the standard set by their first one.
Flower Power
Gossip Girls
Flyers
Girls & Peace
Animal
Paparazzi
Karma Butterfly
Motorcycle
Do The Catwalk
All My Love is For You
Lingua Franca
Reflection
Lips
Everyday Love
*TOP, Stay Girls, and I'm a Diamond are all cute but the production is weak, they would've made good k-album tracks. My oh My would've fit on IGAB.

I oddly really like Flyers for some reason However from what we've heard from the album it seems like nothing special just mediocre Do The Catwalk remains the best song off it tho

I think it's mostly the single's impact what's making people react this way.
With Girls & Peace we had a great start(paparazzi), a remake which had a great ballad as b-side
and to finish Flower Power that just left people looking for more.
This era we had a lacklustre cute track, galaxy supernova which was yeah good i love it but
not as much as i loved either paparazzi or flower power and then the last promo single was
My Oh My that's just there.
The snippets made me anticipate the album now because after my oh my i was really over the era
Karma Butterfly, Motorcycle, Flyers, Gossip Girls and Lips sound amazing but imo
they aren't on the same level as tracks like The Great Escape, Animal, Reflection or You A Holic.
Besides GG went for a cute image with this comeback and most people prefer fierce GG over cute GG (i do too) .
The album sounds solid.

Agree with all of this tbh, especially the bold + about preferring fierce GG. I actually liked My oh My a lot, I just don't think it fits with their Japanese sound. Electro works SO well for them in Japan and this album is literally half cutesy and half electro fierceness, but the electro they're serving on LP is better than on GP (with the exception of Paparazzi + Flower Power). It's a complicated hierarchy.
Overall, I think it's like this:
1st album >>>>>>> new tracks from 3rd album = Flower Power = Paparazzi >>>>> second album as a whole >/= 3rd album as a whole. Obviously since the whole thing isn't out yet we can't really judge but that's how it seems to be shaping up.
They get ONE cohesive album out and it's like their label(s) stopped caring and started just throwing together songs for all the albums afterwards.

Yeah i like My Oh My too but as you said it would have been better as an album track on IGAB
So true, the electro sounds really does wonders for them that's why their 1st Album is amazing.
I would add reflection and animal to the new tracks from 3rd album but i get your idea.
Well k-pop isnt in a good place right now in japan so the labels are probably not investing
the same money and dedication they did when k-pop was at it's peak on the industry
which is why i think they are going for safe concepts such as the cute one instead of
pushing a concept more independent or unique.

I don't know a lot about the state of k-pop in Japan rn so that makes a lot of sense. Honestly I'm kind of okay with it cause the way things usually go, they have like two mediocre-to-moderately-great eras and then give us something a little more interesting, rinse and repeat, etc.
Besides, I don't mind an album that's just full of bops/easy listening tracks once in a while so I'm not really complaining.
I stopped caring about people's opinions on SNSD. People always find a negativity about what they're doing and it's quite annoying. I'll just stay in the shadows and continue bopping to their music.

This is literally perfect. I would be here for this as their 2nd J album.
