Hell, the Born This Way era was lackluster in a respect and she grossed nearly $200 million.

Interscope will let her do stadiums for the ARTPOP tour because she was successful with stadiums with the Born This Way Ball ($10 million fron one stadium show in Twickenham, London). If she doesn't do well with stadiums this time around, then they won't let her with the next tour.

Everything is 'commercial and for the non creative masses' if it's not an indie band.

I love art and I go there cause I'm a very creative person and want to explore different things within the art world but art students and artists are utter trash.

I can't with Gaga honestly she seems like the worst person to work with, her recent interviews show it too. Her obsession with her art is so intense and her attempt at commercializing it isn't working. To be honest the songs on the album are pure pop songs and not really art. If Gaga read that she would kill me.

but it's always a faulty comparison when we compare her to Madonna's touring numbers. She's had decades to build up the support of her loyal fans. Hell, so many decades later MDNA was able to open with more than ARTPOP.. Many of the fans that went to the BTWB were still fan-girling due to TFM (as is also evident in BTW sales)... this era she has no such support. She still has super loyal fans (maybe the most dedicated of any artist) but not as many of them..

I just don't want to get our hopes up like we did with Applause/ARTPOP numbers

One of her early statements was that ‘pop will never be low-brow’, a suggested understanding that the simple pleasures of pop songs like (for example) Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe or Gaga’s own Poker Face were a powerful and admirable art form in themselves. With ARTPOP, however, it instead seems that Gaga thinks pop needs to be smothered in the language and aesthetics of more traditional art forms in order to have ‘value’.

I will say she is doing a bit too much recently. Honestly, I can understand how someone would think she sounds pretentious, particularly in some of the recent interviews.
