Troy wanted more POP on ARTPOP and less ART. He wanted Gaga to slay again. And I wouldnt blame him. After BTW he wanted Gaga to come back hard. But she wanted her ART to be on 1st place. Although I dont see any ART song on ARTPOP besides the song Artpop.

And OMG this ART/POP distinction is killing me. This sums it up for me

I don't buy Troy wanting more Pop than Art. That was such a cheap excuse. Which song is really Art?! lol. She never said the songs were Art. She always stated the album would be FUN. The Art part are her performances, images, etc.

I clearly remember he said in the summer he would release the album right now but Gaga wanted to wait and make it perfect. That makes me think he was perfectly happy with the album.

The fact the the album is called ARTPOP and has only one ART song while an album called The Fame Monster has 8 ART tracks She was ART without even trying... Now..oh well. Dance In The Dark is more art than any ARTPOP song. Even Alejandro

She's taking ART to literally this era with Koons and paintings and sculptures.
That kind of art is for the elite now, not pop culture.
She actually was combining art and pop with video's like BR and Telephone and Alejandro and costumes like the meatdress, it was popular and well known on a large scale while making a statement, that can be considered popart.
Now she's trying to make popart by putting literal art into her promo but it's just not working.

ikr? I know she loves her art but she needs to stop talking about it like she is Leonardo Davinci or Martina Abromevec. Like, gurl, you are a pop star, focus on making good music, good music is always art( atleast when it comes to Gaga). I mean, just listen to DITD.

I think it was implied somewhere that w/ all the promo Troy booked for her, she didn't have much time to rehearse and was overworked(hence the relapse in you know what)

Kinda makes sense(remember during the BTW era w/ all the promo & she said she wasn't sleeping much - well she doesn't really but it was insane back then).

I'd love to know much more about this tho bc it seems like a LOT has happened behind the scenes.

And of course she would put literal art in her project when she names it that way. She loves art so her idea was to put it in front more. Clearly it's not working for the GP because we are just stupid and want her to be a cute pop princess but that wasn't her idea this era. She asked if art and pop could belong together and the answer is no.

AMA's and Japan are showing signs she has realized that.

Alejandro? Yes, DITD, not really.

I am not an art expert or something but I can recognize when a song is just good without trying hard to add this, change this. The lyrics, the melody and the production is what make a song art, atleast for me.
