I just watched the AMAs on DVR a little bit ago. She looked amazing, sounded amazing, and I actually teared up a bit at her montage. (Though, I wish they had done more of a music video montage because hello, it's Rihanna.)
I haven't listened to Rihanna in almost 2 years now. My feelings for her are so confusing and I know some may laugh since she's "just a celebrity." Hopefully people in the base can get beyond that, since you guys love her like family at this point. Hopefully there are enough members here from before that remember how much Rihanna used to mean to me. I listened to Diamonds for the first time ever tonight. It was like no time had passed. I want to listen to her again. I want to see her in concert again. I want to stalk her on every award show again. I want things to be normal again like before she dated it.
This was originally going to be a blog but I think for now I just want other Rihanna fans to see it. I don't even know if I type anything that makes sense but here are the words that describe my situation. I'll probably delete this tomorrow and feel stupid for sharing, but the confusion that Rihanna works on me is doing wonders at the moment. Robyn, girl, come back to me.
This is been my strange, cryptic, buzz-killing rant. Sorry for the interruption.

I get where you're coming from, but try not to let her personal life interfere with enjoying her music because her music is absolutely amazing. And understand she's a grown woman, who may not make the best decisions, but she always stands by them for 100% and will accept all consequences.
Anyway, she's not dating him anymore, so maybe things will start to go uphill for you and Rih from here.

She exists in a self-created sweet spot, somewhere between bubblegum appeal and critical acclaim, and it’s one that that other artists can’t really replicate.
|
This kind of explains everything, why she can release yearly without being overexposed, or why she's never facing any competition.
Rihanna is on her own, and she's created her own little spot somewhere in the pop landscape where she just sits and does whatever she feels like doing.
It doesn't matter what it is, critics will like it, and the public will like it.
I'm so proud of her.

THIS! There have been some okay pop releases this year, but NOTHING can even come close to Rih's releases, it feels so empty.

No interruption I enjoyed reading your post. As a huge fan of hers I can relate to your confusion, there are many times when Rihanna does or says things and Im like "seriously Rih, why". Theres times I wish I could scream at her and tell her to stop or grow up (all from a loving place of course) But on the flip side of all that being a fan of hers is probably one of the most gratifying things. She gives you Robyn all the time whether we like it or not. Thats what I appreciative about her the most she not trying to put up a facade to please everyone she serving 1 purpose: to be happy and live HER life.
Even when she briefly dated him again which I didn't approve of, I was more shocked by how strong she was. To literally risk it all and not care about others opinions because she felt it was right at the time is commendable/brave as twisted as that probably sounds.
Anyway I think that chapter of her life is done and I look forward to seeing her evolve more.
Ughh now I feel like Im ranting. lol

But if those AMA receipts are really true, and they were all really supported by Billboard,
that means Rihanna is now the second best selling female artist of all time only behind Madonna.

I have different sources, but the numbers are nearly the same on every site.
Music Of The Sun: 1.500.000
A Girl Like Me: 3.500.000
Good Girl Gone Bad: 9.000.000 - 10.500.000
Rated R: 3.000.000 (last update was 2011, I think it should sold around 3.5 by now)
LOUD: 6.500.000 (It sold around 6 million copys by the end of 2011)
Talk That Talk: 3.500.000
Unapologetic: 3.300.000 - 3.500.000
I'm pretty sure Unapologetic will surpass TTT any time soon

Aiiiiii, kill 'em Rih.
I really hope MOTS reaches platinum in the US one day, and GGGB is legit above 10 million, that would be perfect.

Since I didn't wrote nothing about the AMA's in here let me start:
The performance of Diamonds was just WOW. It had such a mystical feeling to it, the orchestra was great, the vocals were great(Rolling Stones agrees). The speech was great, Monica's too and you could feel the genuine feelings from both of them. I wished the tribute video was a little bit longer but it was good the way it was. Also I was really proud when she said „I'm only as good as my team” Maybe the other fanbases found it funny and dragable( ) but that's the truth, everybody has a team behind them and I love that Rihanna know where she stands. That's a reason why I stan for her, because she's genuine and she recognizes everyone who helped her in her career.
It's great to be a navy and I am so proud of her and I think we're having a great stanbase.

I understand you sis and hopefully we can welcome you as a navy member again any time soon.
I wasn't here for Chrianna either, I knew it wouldn't end well. I defended her and all but I was so happy after she broke up with Chris.
I hope you can love her again, like you loved her 2 years ago. 'Cause lemme tell you, you missed a lot of good music
