They can get very heated
For the exact same reason as why stan wars get so heated; people somehow start identifying themself with their choice. The artist/console/game/phone/etc. becomes part of their identity, so if someone insults it it triggers the same emotional response as when someone insults you directly.

Question #2: Why do we always have a "Is Gaga fading?" thread or a variation of that opened almost every day yet if you make a "Is Britney fading / Has Britney been surpassed by...?" thread, the thread gets closed in a matter of minutes. Explain the bias please.

Why did I get reported for saying that I like to shade Adele because she's fat. I didn't even shade her I just said that I like to shade her. Plus I'm a big fan of hers! It's true that she's fat, but being fat isn't a bad thing. It's not like a said it's a terrible thing to be fat, and Adele is fat, therefore she's terrible.
