If touring was such a bigger market today, why aren't big artist the like Katy Perry, Mariah, Jlo, Alicia Keys and Xtina etc able to gross over $100 mil in this easy touring market? Hell, Rih just only had her first $100 mil tour in a 8yr career. The reality is, there are only certain few artist that have hugely successful $100 mil grossing tours. Even some of the big artist I mentioned above aren't feeling the wave of this so called bigger touring market. Janet, at this point in her career should've been beyond being blacklisted, especially from touring. She has the Jackson name and success to at least be able to pull off a hugely successful tour.
A. Mariah is not a touring act in that frame she is more of a vocalist, the comparison is unfair
B. JLO & Xtina are not that in demand anymore
C. Alicia has never been a huge touring act or never will
But couldn't the same be said about album sales and how Beyonce has yet to even sell as much albums as the under certified Control & RN. I don't think you get the whole idea of touring in general so let's use receipt's as a history lesson:
The highest grossing tour of 2000 was:
Turner's tour — which was billed as her last — was the year's top-grossing outing, earning $80.2 million.
But 'NSYNC were close behind, pulling in $76.4 million in their tour behind their record-breaking album No Strings Attached.
Keep in mind that N'SYNC sold over 2 million in it's FIRST WEEK ALONE. Yet theat was the highest they could gross. Like I said again the touring market was different back then hence why 89 million (done by janet) was the biggest debut tour of that time frame, and astronomical. Hell even BRITNEY SPEARS the same chick who sold damn near over 30 million units and was breaking records only grossed about 45 million for her 88 date tour (ooidia).

What are you talking about? I didn't diminish Janet's contributions of choreography to music. When I think of Janet, I don't think Beyoncé. Bey is a VOCALIST and dancer, she is more comparable to Tina and her style of dancing and Mariah as far as vocals.
Sure Beyoncé has mentioned she was influenced by Janet, just as she has mentioned she was influenced by Whitney, Mariah, Madonna etc Every new generation of artist mentions the previous as an influence.
The bold makes no utter sense if Beyonce paid tribute to her on her own MTVIcon special:
and specifically stated she learned her routine to escapade and others to learn how to dance. And in her interview with Ananda Lewis in 2001 was so excited to see Janet thank them:
P.S.: Not to mention if you watch the entire show Beyonce's old school teacher came out and the first routine she mentioned came from Janet not Tina.
If Beyonce was not that influenced by Janet she wouldn't have done all that and still years later pay tribute like this:
P.S.: It's WHYDFML and let's not forget the magazine cover she did with her idol. You don't speak for Bey the influence is obviously there. If you don't see that fact that Bey being able to do contemporary r&b and independent anthems due to Janet's innovations, then it's sad. Janet may not be her biggest influence but it is still there

As great as a vocalist as Tina was, still she isn't listed or compared to greater vocalist like Mariah and Xtina the way Bey is. Tina's voice is more rock and a very different category from Bey's voice.
Who cares Tina is still a vocalist and well respected performer.

That's why she was asked to perform at the Super Bowl at 21, she was asked twice, while these other girls have never been asked and may never be asked. That speaks volumes, considering how some stans can only brag about quick jingle sells.
Quote:
You sound like the other fanbases using the excuse that Bey was only asked twice to perform at the SB because of DC. Then why wasn't JT asked twice or Diana Ross? They asked Bey on the strength of her being a great solo artist and great performer.
Chile I am apart of your stanbase and let's keep it all the way real. You think they were gonna ask Bey if she were solo the entire time to go twice? And the reason Diana wasn't asked to do the superbowl with the supremes was because The Superbowl itself started in the late 60's (67 to be exact). And Diana went solo in 1970. As far as JT maybe because he had been missing musically with his short catalogue for like years . Sis brush up on your history.

Janet's voice and music is more pop than r&b, compared to Bey's voice and music. Beyoncé has a gospel church type voice, that usually doesn't translate or cross over into the pop world. That's why she stands out more so as a cross over artist than Janet. Bet honest, when you think of the Janet, the first thing you think of is pop and a lack of vocal skills, which is why she is always compared to Madonna and not Whitney, Aretha or Toni Braxton.
In response to the bold in what world?? Are you ignorant to the fact that due to the likes of Whitney that Beyonce can cross over with her gospel influenced vocals. And to be honest when you think of Janet you think Dancer/Performer and all around artist.

It is your opinion about when we look back Janet will be mentioned before Bey as far as performance. I completely disagree, one because we can't predict the future,
I never said as far a sperformance but as far as an artist Janet will be mentioned before Beyonce. When we look at black history icons who paved the way we will start with Rayy Charles then go to Diana Ross (i'm summarizing here) and we ain't just gonna skip Janet o jump to Beyonce. I can't predict the future but at the moment and looking at their contributions during their first 15 years in the industry. Janet has the BIGGGER IMPACT/INFLUENCE

two because Bey's performances are better given she can SANG and dance extremely well. And also several members of this board who aren't even Bey fans have mentioned they had no idea who Janet was prior to becoming a member of this site, that speaks volumes considering she is a Jackson and considering how successful she was.
Dance well but extremely well is pushing it, Janet would smoke her in her prime have you watched her move. Bey can dance but it's really overrated in every single which way. And for the last time who cares what a bunch of musically ignorant and young poster's have to say. Her impact/blueprint is still being taken from and that's a fact, her contributions are not forgotten nor are her albums. There are 6 billion people on this planet it's not all about the uneducated youth sis
With that said good day because your long post if anything didn't help your argument in any which way

We keep providing lengthy and detailed responses complete with relevant receipts and examples, but slimsexy keeps paying us back in non-sense.
Beyoncé is not a legend. She is most certainly going to be a legend some day, but as for right now, she is NOT more legendary or important than any real, recognized legend.

Then that means nothing's going to change his mind. Don't even bother. But I love how the Janet stans in here are dedicated to defending her
I just don't understand why people keep coming for more and I keep scalping on every page along with other font's??? Is it not enough to just digest these well supported facts??

That's right I do not play. Don't come for Janet or imma do the entire Rhythm Nation dance routine all over your ass and educate you at the same time

Haha. And to the Hive, sorry if my comments in here have possibly offended you in anyway, i may have been a bit in stan mode haha, truth is i bop to Bey too.
Where in my post did I refer to Bey as a legend?I could have stayed mute about the exaggeration of Janet's greatness,if you all did'nt attempt to bring Bey down.
Respect Bey and all will be well.
Beyoncé and Janet are from two different eras. Beyoncé is still current and Janet's long past her prime.
Beyoncé's primary influences derive from Tina Turner and Diana Ross. Janet took a lot from her brother MJ.
Beyoncé, as an overall live performer, mops the floor with Janet. The energy, the dedication, and the ability to own a stage in heels recalls the days of the aforementioned Tina Tuner. And being able to sing at the same time is an obvious plus.
Nevertheless, Janet comes out with a landslide win as being the better technical dancer. Maybe the baddest one besides Paula Abdul.
Who's music reigns supreme? Janet's. By far. One of the biggest letdowns about Beyoncé is for all her talent, for all her star, her catalog (4 albums-in) is so weak. She's yet to have a Velvet Rope, she's yet to do a Rhythm Nation, a Janet. None of her material can rival those albums. She lacks originality, she lacks creativity. I can literally go through her history and point out where every single one of her ideas derive from. "Oh that's Tina inspired." "Yea Diana definitely had something to do with this.." "Here's Janet Jr." You know, like nothing she does screams JUST BEYONCE. I always see someone else.
But the good news is her clock hasn't run out. She's still a name, she's very relevant, she still has a good amount of time left to add to her resume before she's discarded.
Lol at beyonce "always" sighting Janet as her influence, when she prefers to be compared to the greatest entertainer of all times MJ.Deal with it Beyonce is a more complete performer than Janet and her dance steps are nothing similar to janet and even if they were we can always trace it back to MJ,whom Janet copied but just put a feminine touch to it.
I never wanted to go there untill a Janet supporter called Bey a lessor.Common Bey deserves some respect,if not for anything for being a more complete performer than Janet.
Oh really sis care to explain these gifs:
Love Will Never Do vs In The Closet (Both directed by Herb Ritts)
Janet Jackson’s “Nasty” (1986) vs Michael Jackson’s “Bad” (1987)
who's to say that MJ ran to Herb Ritts because of Janet tho?
Madonna did "Cherish" with him the year before Janet ran to him for "Love will Never Do" so...
also, let's not with the "all Beyonce does is swing her hair" thing. Beyonce can dance. Beyonce can dance well. If she can't then what's this whole "Beyonce owes her dancing & singing performer schtick to Janet"? It's a bit contradictory but ok.
who's to say that MJ ran to Herb Ritts because of Janet tho?

Well sis all's i'm saying is that MJ took inspiration from Janet as well, and to defeat the claims that Janet was some kinda MJ wananbae. When she was her own artist. And even one of the people who worked with MJ said that RN had an impact on him. I would show the video but youtube took it down, all's i'm saying. And even then the other gifs don't lie
