So because he is hive I must agree with him?my views on Janet has nothing to do with my stanning for beyonce.BOT,if janet made any impact whatsoever America would have been quick in forgiving her.And please name an artist Janet has influenced today.

Some Beyoncé stans.
Not only her, Aaliyah, Ciara, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, any female singer that also dances. Janet is the mother of highly-choreographed female performers.
If you are not aware of Janet's impact, stop sitting here and making yourself look stupid. Look it up. Watch a documentary. Read an article. MTV, BET, Vh1 and all authorities in popular culture have acknowledged Janet Jackson as an influential legend and icon, and it's not ****ing debatable. STOP!

SHE DANCES. SHE PERFORMS ELABORATE CHOREOGRAPHY. JANET POPULARIZED THAT FOR FEMALE SINGERS.

Janet's fans and their fictitious impact that can be refuted any time any day,But one thing that cannot be denied is that Bey is a rare breed of musician that can sing and dance at the same time.New artist strive to be lilke her but the always fall short, since they usually lack in one department or the other,She is respected by Legends because they know that even in their prime they could not do what Beyonce does today.

Has this not been stated in previous pages several times?
As a vocalist? Not at all tbh.
As a performer? Janet's highly energetic and highly choreographed dance routines from the Control/Rhythm Nation eras was unseen by female artists before her. She introduced that into the pop music lexicon. EVERY female artist who does choreographe'd dancing got it from Janet. You can say that she amd Beyonce don't dance alike but its not my fault if Beyonce isn't as good a dancer.
Additionally, from a musical standpoint, Janet's Control album was the first by a female artist (and maybe the first ever) to bridge the gap between pop, hip hop, and R&B. She is a pioneer within Beyonce's main genre of music. If not for Control, whoknows what Beyonce's music (or popular mmusic in general) would sound like.

But you haven't refuted anything. I'm genuinely curious as to which points the Janet fans are making are refutable. No one is saying that Beyonce can't sing and dance.

Why does this thread have 14 pages? This is ridiculous. Both females will have legacies. It's absolutely stupid to compare them when they're two different artists.

Just because Janet popularised elaborate dance for females doesn't mean that Beyonce was inspired by her.In general no artist popularised elaborate dance like MJ.So MJ remains the Alpha and Omega when it comes to performance not Janet. He remains the blueprint.
When I mean influence I mean clear cut influence like the one MJ had on Chris brown,Usher or bieber.I don't see janet when I watch Bey only a glimpse of Tina Turner.

All these are general statements, she bridged the gap bla bla bla,how does that prove she influenced Bey?You could start by mentioning any Bey music that sounds like Janet could have done it?

Because the combination of hip hop, R&B, and pop that Janet created is the basis of Beyoncé's entire catalogue.

I doubt Janet could even sing 1/4 of Bey's songs.

Mariah Carey is responsible for that. Janet, of course, has done it first. But Janet wasn't the first to do it. Mariah revolutionized pop with R&B and hip-hop and made it popular. None paid attention when Janet did it

Everytime I go to ATRL and read the threads, I always have to remind myself that most of the users here are too young that they never saw how the 80s/90s pop legends did it way better, bigger, and harder than the lessors of today. They will never know the impact they have on the current pop gurls.
To answer the question, Janet Jackson.

It's a lie.
If we are strictly discussing rappers, Janet did it in Rhythm Nation and janet. The singles (Alright, You Want This) were hits and the albums were hits so people paid attention. Michael's Jam was also successful. Black or White was a major hit. And Dangerous itself was a RN1814 ripoff. Hell even Brandy. Let's tone down Mariah's so-called ~revolution~. What she did do was choosing a really crunk artist and props to her. However she didn't start the trend.
If we are discussing the genres themselves, you're even more delusional. Major artists were doing it before Mariah.
