How dare you even ASK this question?
Even though I don't know Janet's music at all, I know what she brings to the table.
And you, being a Bey stan should know what separates her from others and her impact on the industry since 1998.
She is really talented and better than everyone else on a number of levels.
Is that why Tina was ranked above even Whitney on the RS greatest singers of all time? So your telling me it's possible for Beyonce to sell over 10 million multiple times? That's what it's going to require for her to pass Janet. Touring is a big market nowadays, Janet was a big touring artist, having the most successful debut tout by a solo artist ever, and her total gross still is ahead of Beyonce.
Well that tells you right there how much the RS greatest singers list is a joke then, nobody ranks above Whitney in singing.lol Touring isn't a big market nowadays, there are very few females artist of the 00 and 10's that have grossed over $100 mil on tour, not even Katy Perry has yet. What is Janet's touring gross?? So she's had a single ww tour that grossed more than $160-200 mill??

But what has she changed?
Wow, she's changed and made other artist step up their performance skills. Just about every artist male and female has raved and praised Bey's performance ability from Bruno Mars, Adele, Katy Perry, Rih, JT etc etc. Bey, is more noted than anything else as a great performer, able to sing very well live and dance her ass off. Lets be honest, what other female artist is able to sing really good and dance really good like Bey? That's why she stands out like she does and grosses so much on tour, her performance skills are unmatched by her peers. That's why she was asked to perform at the Super Bowl at 21, she was asked twice, while these other girls have never been asked and may never be asked. That speaks volumes, considering how some stans can only brag about quick jingle sells.
You also have to take into consideration that Bey is mainly an r&b/pop artist, what other r&b/pop female artist of the 00s and 10's is as successful and had as much impact as she has? Bey's peers are bubble gum pop artist Gaga, Katy, Rih etc and none of them are known and defined as great performer aka vocals and dancing ability. Why do you think she was asked to perform at the Inauguration, again singing ability. Artist like Xtina, Britney only have one ability, Bey stands out because she has both, great dancing and singing ability. If you ask anyone, even non-stans they will tell you her impact is in her performing ability and how she's changed the performing game. When we look back at the 00s and 10s and ask which female artist stood out performance wise, I guarantee you it won't be Gaga, Rih, Xtina, Britney or Katy, it will be Beyoncé.

I don't want to get into a debate about Whitney and Tina, both are amazing regardless, the point i was trying to refute was that Tina isn't 'known' as a vocalist.
Touring is a big market than it was in Janet's era. Why do you think Madonna has two tours that are bigger than any Michael tour? And again, touring is not relevant to this thread.

Okay Beyonce has influence in her performing, but at the same time she is only riding the waves Tina Turner built for her, like most have said here, she isn't innovative or hasn't done anything new, she just rides bridges that have been built for her. Musically Janet holds a much bigger legacy.

You basically just said that Beyonce is really talented and better than everyone else. That is fact. We are past that. But what has she CHANGED or STARTED?

New Beyoncé stans...
Listen to how Uptempo R&B/ Urban pop songs are sang, before and after this.
Cee-Lo touches on it here @ 2:42
ANd here is more for you...
Also, look at how female performers perform before and after the Dangerously in Love era.
Okay, this is a good answer, but is Beyonce's affect on R&B vocal performance anywhere near as colossal as Janet's impact on R&B/Pop live performance? The answer is no.
The Beyonce fans have put forward a bunch of subjective comments and have been highlighting how successful and popular Beyonce is, while the Janet fans are actually assessing her impact on music and pop culture and how she has shaped modern music...
THIS, the thread is too embarrassing and has gone on too long.

Yes touring is a bigger market TODAY than it was in yesteryear's you can't even deny that. The reason tours weren't as big back in the day was due to people making most of the money from album sales since that was when they were selling like hotcakes. The fact that Janet in 1989 grossed 89 million which for that time was the highest debut tour as well as being the little sister. Is a notable achievement and her tour's after that have grossed very high for that time as well, if we adjusted it for inflation the stats would be higher easily. And you have to take into account around the AFY tour sickness & 9/11 attacks led to her cancelling many dates that could have been performed and the possibility of extending the tour in general. And after the nipple slip we saw a true version of being blacklisted.

This is so stupid you can't diminish the fact that Janet and her contributions of choreography to the music video's especially for the female artist's. If it weren't for Janet and her Escapade:
That Beyonce HERSELF AS A CHILD LEARNED among other routine's she wouldn't be the dancer she is today. And the same goes for the entire TRL generation from JLO to Xtina to Britney to NSYNC to Usher etc..... And has been praised from a variety of performers that if you look back at I listed.

And this confirm's you know nothing about music prior to the new millenium, it's called Tina Turner one of the biggest touring act's of all time. The same woman who your favorite artist's borrow's heavily from when she performs. There is a reason bey call's her the Queen

But that isn't a fair comparison she was asked twice because she was apart of a group and another time came years later as a solo artist. If Beyonce was SOLO since day one I highly doubt she would be asked twice especially above the likes of Prince, MJ and other artist's.

And so was Janet and she is one of the artist's who paved the way for Beyonce to record her female empowerment contemporary r&b flavored songs and albums. As well as give Bey the ability to cross over

Yup and when we look back at the artist's who truly had a profound impact on music/performances Janet will ALWAYS be mentioned before Beyonce.
P.S.: With that said I do know and acknowledge Bey's impact but it's asinine to even believe that Beyonce who is still building her legacy, has a bigger legacy than Janet

I'm not saying one has had more impact than the other. I can't see the future. I was just responding to your question, "What has Beyonce changed?"
The style of singing has become a staple, if you will, in R&B/Pop music and is still highly utilized today. Basically every male or female artist that incorporates elements of Hip Hop into Pop music in the 2000s owe some debt to Beyonce in regards to this alone.
But, since Beyonce is still successful, not from the 90s/late 80s people like to ignore and not acknowledge her very huge contribution among others.

You Betta EDUCATE them Gangsta4Life
Their Coming for the Queen who even made it possible for their fav to even two step on stage.
Beyonce fans have really fallen for her teams effort to market her as one of the biggest legends haven't they The truth is, Beyonce hasn't mad that much impact and influence as an artist/performer. It's just bits and bobs. Janet's impact and influence has always came one after the other, and that's why you just can't deny she will have the bigger legacy. In todays music scene, her performances are still followed and her musical impact can be found in pop and especially R&B.
Alright, but that was the point of this thread. Who will have the bigger legacy? One's legacy is one's contribution. My point is that Janet's contributions are far greater than Beyonce's. Why is that so hard to swallow?
Right? I never knew some Bey stans could be so stubborn.

This response would be warranted had I made the suggestion that Beyonce's contributions outweighed Janet's. But, I guess. From the first post I made it clear about my thoughts on the thread topic. I can't see the future, so I don't know.
You asked a question to something I could answer, I responded. Simple.

Janet Jackson did the fast rap-singing before Beyonce did. Pleasure Principle, Rhythm Nation, Alright, What Have You Done for Me Lately, If. None of that was belted.
