I haven't preordered it, I'm just going to buy it on iTunes on the day it's released. I am sure a lot of other fans will be doing the same thing. Underperform in this context is probably still north of 287k so I think you'll still have room to brag.

so right, at the moment this album feels like a nonevent. The album is 10 days away and I can't believe it, not from excitement, but because it really doesn't feel like new music is around the corner. I know they have a huge promo week lined up so I'm not worried but there is so much fizzling between events in this lead up that it doesn't feel like an album campaign.
I think the fact we all know that this November, next November, and the November after that are going to be delivering 1D albums takes some excitement out of it, too. But maybe that's just me. Either way I'm eager to hear the music.
I only listened to it 4 times and moved on, that's not something I usually do with 1D music.
