CMA is basically just an adjustment of HDS numbers. Technically, songs that were already purchased in previous weeks get subtracted from the total, but since you can't modify charts retrospectively, they just adjust the numbers on the week it takes effect. This has no effect on the Hot 100 though, since that still counts the full single sales for the week.
For example, given that week 3 is the album release week, how CMA affects a song...
Actual single sales:
Week 1 - 200K
Week 2 - 220K
Week 3 - 250K
Complete My Album feature used for songs originally purchased on:
Week 1 - 20K
Week 2 - 15K
Week 3 - always 0 (if a song was bought on a Monday and CMA was used later in the week, it won't count as single sales)
Effects on HDS/Hot 100 for Week 3:
HDS - 250K - 20K - 15K = 215K
Hot 100 component - still 250K
Hope that clears things up a bit.

thanks.
So if the total sales for the song are 300K they all count for the chart even if 150K are from people that bought the album with the CTA feature

People are really showing their ignorance in here

Katy will probably break the record for fastest to 4 million in digital sales. She just needs to sell an average of 92K per week for the next four weeks, which seems doable.

Not exactly, because the 150K that used CMA are actually people who bought the song in previous weeks, not the current week. The only exception is as I stated in my post: if a song from the album is purchased on a Monday but then they opt for CMA later on during the week, that won't be included in the 300K figure at all, since the purchase will account for a full album sale instead.

Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World
Pleasantly suprised by that. I knew it was going Top 10, but I was expecting #3 or something. Glad I was wrong

The song benefits from a performance of the song last week on the show, along with a newly-released version with "Voice" coach Aguilera.
Previously, the song had been available (without Aguilera), and had sold 52,000 through Nov. 3. The sales of both the old and new versions of the song are combined for tracking and charting purposes.

If The Monster wasn't affected by CMA, it would've sold easily around 290-300k this week.

I thought the monsters sales would be less since eminem album sold a lot. Like when Hold On, WGH fell out of the top 10 when the album was released. But that's good though.

Somewhere in the top 20, perhaps upper half of it. DWUW debuted at #13 with 157K sales and some airplay. I think SS will perform similarly.
