Yeah, Dignity's rerelease could have seen the light of day, Holiday became a smash hit, an extended tour, an acoustic EP and maybe another album. Then support the album with smash singles and a tour. Then take a break from music and focus on acting.
Her acting career would've been huge too. If Bonnie & Clyde wasn't an indie but a mainstream film and things go on schedule, she would've been very prominent. Not to mention her being cast as a lead on 90210, that could've rose her up higher. And if A Great Education and Donald Kimski (or smth) did happen, it would be amazing. If she was also a judge in XFactor US 2, Hil would still remain a huge and regularly heard name in the industry.
But we all know why the Queen decided to take a break from huge commitments and recording. I think its HR's fault. She's got a bunch of movies to film around 2003-2005. And they stress her out to record new albums every year. If they gave 2 yrs each for an album's promotion, Hil might have had a better career time frame. Around the Dignity era, I don't think her filming schedules were as tight as before because she was in indie films. This time, HR didnt promote the masterpiece well. Instead of a huge rerelease, a pathetic best of came out. And Reach Out was poorly promoted. I am still very disappointed with what HR done to her.
I wish she won't get back to HR again. And tbh, i was a lil heartbroken when selena said that now she looks up to other actresses.
