The first review: 5/5 by ArtistDirect
Quote:
"F*** your feelings," Eminem spits on "Evil Twin" the devilishly divine final gasp of his new classic, The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
Feelings aren't safe from Mr. Mathers and no one else is either as he fires off the kind of witty, wild, and wonderful verses that made him an icon on The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show. He reverses the word "motherf***er" on "Evil Twin" in hilarious fashion, and he announces, "My suicide note's barely legible. Read the bottom. It's signed by The Joker". His knack for imagery remains unparalleled, twisting writhing rhymes from hellish to heavenly. "Evil Twin" will go down as one of his most corrosive confessions ever, especially as it skewers everybody around him. He assures, "Still Shady inside", and you can hear an entire nation fans gasp.
That's just the conclusion though. The seven-minute plus "Bad Guy" starts this ride. The production could've been ripped right from a slasher flick, and it fits the razor sharp rapping strewn throughout the sprawling epic. He nods to some past hits, while forging right into the future at full speed ahead, knives out, guns drawn, and fists clenched—punctuated by an eerie little hook.
For "Rhyme or Reason", he chops up The Zombies' "Time of the Season" and even does a spot-on Yoda impersonation, making for one of his most memorable—and genius—cuts yet. "So Much Better" creeps out with horror movie tension as piano bounces and the MC once again shows why he's in top form. Then, there's "Survival" and "Berzerk", both of which have done a fitting job of introducing the world to The Marshall Mathers LP 2. However, more often than not the rest of the album reflects the violent, vicious vibrancy of "Rap God", a pastiche of his sense of humor, anger, and passion all rolled into one.
Rihanna adds a soulful shine to "The Monster", proving a worthy successor to "Love The Way You Lie", while Kendrick Lamar adds L.A. swag to "Love Game".
After this trip, it's clear that Eminem's still king. Marshall Mathers has returned and (thankfully) he doesn't give a f**k how anyone feels.
Stars: 5/5

I won't.
I'll have a breakdown
Realistically, I can see him taking a 3-5 year break after this era is over.

That's the rumor. That it's his last album.
I refuse to believe it.

Just for a month.
I told Slim not to ask for a link. Normally asking once wouldn't ban someone but he asked like 5x.

I wonder how the hip hop/rap community are accepting the album. I'm afraid to read the comments

I don't even care about the comments. This is Eminem's return to form and they will not ruin it for me.

NOT stronger than i was making me cry. the lyrics and delivery are so raw even though obviously hes not the best singer. the way he pours his heart out on this record while still having plenty of humor is amazing. i love this man so much its insane and if its his last album then at least its one i love. its musically the most ambitious album he has ever made. so many different voices, flows, tones, beats, rhyme schemes. his multis are on point.
i recommend everyone go to rap genius right now and listen while reading along with the lyrics, it makes you really apreciate the songs more. i ordered the deluxe from amazon, i cant wait for it to get here. i keep forgetting that we have 5 freaking whole songs we didnt even hear yet.
i really connected with this album in a way that i only connect with em music.
and i really want a bad guy music video.
btw, i heard a rumor that eminem produced so far and rhyme or reason. lmaooo at ems production slaying that of the pros, the only songs with better production on the record are stronger than i was and bad guy.

Not really, but it's the highlight of the album.
Listen to Fun.'s "Stars" before you listen to "Headlights" & you will get a good idea of what's to come ("Stars" is the 2nd best song of Fun.'s career besides "Some Nights" btw).

Now that I've heard the album, every time I look at Headlights on the track list,
"**** you Debbie!" from Without Me goes through my head.

Is it just me or is Legacy giving off Stan vibes? The production and the rain sound effect is really giving me Stan teas.
