Did I hear somewhere that Venus was supposed to be the lead single? Gaga said Applause and Sexxx Dreams had a battle but, considering she said Applause was added last minute, I would imagine SD was the original first single

I think that was a lie.
I don't think she wrote/finished Venus till after the Applause video was done or after the VMAs. That's when she seemed to get inspired by the Birth Of Venus.
