A slow, build-up bridge that was literally designed for drag queens to vogue in gay bars? Check.

Applause is still one of my favorites out of what we've heard.

Applause is kind of underrated imo. I mean yeah its hook and chorus is kind of generic but at the same time I think the song just works. Its infectious and Gaga wasn't lost in trying to adapt to being radio friendly.

It's neither as pretentious as the haters think nor generic as the haters and some fans also think.

It's just a fun song with some catchy lyrics and a fun club beat.

The lead single didn't need to be anything more than that.

People absolutely detested the verses when Bad Romance came out, they all complained saying it was choppy and didn't fit with the rest of the song. You're only saying its "less awkward' because you've had the song for four years. Give Venus and Applause four years time, you'll be thinking differently.

Venus is superior in every aspect.

Lyrically it's far more superior. Bad Romance wishes it could be this clever!

Plus, Bad Romance wishes it could have used those 80s and 90s European influences and still sound futuristic. Venus also fits much better in a club, imo.

Did you not read though? I literally said "just because the songs share certain elements (as they would because theyre all gaga brand songs) doesn't mean Venus is on the same level as BR".

Yes yes, you've made it clear that she writes odd lyrics, I never denied that. But even with the lyrics you posted some people may have hated at the time (i dont even know who youre talking about but I could only imagine the ATRL drama queens), but they're not nearly as disjointed as Venus or Applause' second verse melodically speaking. Just because they're also odd doesn't mean they are the same, Bad Romance works more than Venus. And thats not to say I don't like Venus, because I do.

And dont act like you know how I think either. I felt the same about Bad Romance 4 years ago as I do now.
