I'm not worried about DWUW doing well--it has the most potential since TEOG. I'm just worried about how this era has already taken a turn towards BTW messiness
It's Interscope + Gaga's job to pick the best singles to represent + sell the album. We already thought Jimmy was a bit weird for thinking Applause was the best song, and now this. Anyone with half a brain could've told you DWUW has great potential (especially since it's her first single that could truly capture multiple radio formats), so why wasn't this just the 2nd single to start with? Why would they even go with Venus if they weren't totally sure on it?
My personal theory... Gaga wanted Venus since it thematically made sense for ARTPOP. Interscope said sure, but let's put DWUW in a commercial + release it first, and see what happens...
I just hope every single for the rest of Gaga's career isn't some big debate with Interscope, because it's getting old

And what happens if Venus hits #1 worldwide next week too?
